Married at First Sight Chapter 729

Chapter 729
After leaving the office, Zachary got into Josh’s car.
Josh said to him, “I understand that you don’t want to take your luxury car, but why aren’t you driving the MPV you bought specifically to fool your wife?”
Zachary replied while fastening his seatbelt, “If I go with you, my wife won’t have to worry about me being unemployed.”
“You, unemployed? Why would Serenity be concerned about that?” Josh almost laughed out loud.
Serenity had no reason to worry about Zachary losing his job. If Zachary stopped running York Corporation, all eight of his younger brothers would be devastated. He could handle the responsibility of all nine of them on his own.
“She hasn’t said anything, but she’s starting to feel sorry for my wallet and advised me not to spend money carelessly. If I’m seen with you often, she’ll think I’m just following your lead, and then she won’t have to worry anymore.”
Josh remarked, “She doesn’t realize that she’s actually the real boss, does she?”
At the mention of Serenity, Zachary’s expression softened. He agreed with Josh’s statement.
Ring ring ring…
“My wife is calling.”
Josh tactfully lowered the volume of the car’s music upon hearing this.
“Seren.”
Zachary’s tone remained serious as he answered the phone, but only those who knew him well would notice that he spoke with more warmth than usual.
“Zachary, have you eaten yet?”
“Are you asking me out for dinner?” Zachary replied instinctively. However, recalling that Serenity had ditched him to dine with Jasmine, he added bitterly, “Oh, right. You invited Ms. Sox to dinner and didn’t want me to come along, so how could you call to invite me?”
“Tsk tsk… Are you jealous again? Jasmine is my best friend, but you still want to compare yourself to her. You’re my—”

“You’re the husband I plan to spend my entire life with, so there’s really no need to compare you two.”

“You have a business engagement tonight, right? Make sure not to drink too much. You should eat something before you start drinking. If you need me to pick you up, just send me a message.”

Zachary, who still felt a pang of jealousy towards Jasmine, found some relief in the thought that no matter how significant Jasmine was to Serenity, she wouldn’t be the one spending her life with her. He was the one destined for that role.

Serenity was right; there was no point in comparing himself to Jasmine. If he did, he would find himself feeling jealous every day. Besides, Serenity wouldn’t sever her ties with Jasmine just because he felt envy.

“I’m going to dinner with Mr. Bucham and a client, so I won’t be drinking too much,” he replied.

Serenity added a few more comments before hanging up the phone.

“Married men really are different. When it’s time for dinner, someone calls to check if you’ve eaten. She’s always thinking about you and even worries that you might get drunk at a business engagement.”

Zachary slid his phone back into his pocket and replied nonchalantly, “That’s why I enjoy being cared for by my wife.”

Josh was left speechless.

In reality, Serenity didn’t control Zachary at all. He often portrayed her as a strict wife, but that was merely an attempt to show off their relationship in front of his friend.

During dinner, Serenity and Jasmine ordered a variety of dishes. How would Serenity feel when she saw her husband walk in while she was busy enjoying her meal?

She thought to herself, “He knows I have a big appetite, so I won’t feel embarrassed.”

It didn’t matter if Zachary saw her; she was spending her own money and could eat whatever and however much she wanted.

“Seren.”

Zachary…

He pretended to encounter her by chance and approached her first. However, Josh and Duncan did not follow him right away. “Mr. York,” Jasmine greeted Zachary. When she noticed Josh nearby, she smiled at him too. “What brings you here?”
