_ZIYANDA MTUNGWA_
I sat down facing mom and dad, they called me to talk to me. And I have a shoot in 30 minutes so better hurry coz I don’t want to be late for my shoot. “Umithi Ziyanda?”, I popped eyes all out, how did they know. I looked at my fingers as the fiddle together. I nodded slowly, without looking at them. “When were you going to tell us? Who’s the father?”.
I cleared my throat, “Nhlanzeko Ndwandwe”. Mom stood up from the couch, “you mean Ndwandwe, the one and only?”. I nodded, why it like they know them or something. “It can’t be baba”, my mother said looking at my father, “it can’t be Mtungwa, its can’t be”. She was now pacing up and down, while dad was still seated with his head bowed down. He raised his head to look at me, “kumele kuyobikwa isisu”.
I nodded, atleast now I won’t be going alone in KwaZulu Natal, I’ll go with my parents. “We leaving tomorrow morning”, dad added before standing up. He left the lounge then mom followed him. I looked at them with a smile as the disappeared, I took my bag then walked out of the house. Got in my car, started the ignition then drove off to work. Nkanyezi has already left, she had a shoot also and I just found out we will be shooting both of us.
I parked my car at the parking lot of where I’m working. I got out of the car, locked it then marched to the entrance. I bumped to
someone, “look where you going “, he said then clicked his tongue, after he passed by. Why other people are so rude?, I rolled my eyes then made my way in. I greet the receptionist then walked to where we shooting. I found everyone already there, even Nkanyezi is also there. She smiled looking at me, then she came to me.
“Miss Mtungwa you late”, my boss said, “I’m so sorry sir I had an emergency”. He nodded then continue with what he was doing. “Hey little sis, ready to be a celebrity?”, I smiled looking at her. I’ve always waited for this opportunity, to be on billboards, magazines on TV, really can’t. “I really can’t wait sis”, she wrapped her hand on my shoulders. The boss told us what we going to be doing for today’s shoot because it kinda different from what we’ve always did.
We done with the shooting, now I’m with Nkanyezi grabbing lunch. Our shoot took more than an hour minimum. “I heard mom and dad talking about pregnancy, do you think mom could be pregnant?”, I looked at her then we both busted in laughter. “What, why you laughing? It possible”, I shook my head chuckling. I took a sip on my juice, “well I’m the one who is pregnant”. Her eyes popped out of their sockets. “Judas you, why didn’t you say?”.
She looks happy more than me, you could swear she’s the one who’s pregnant. “Ohhh I’m going to be a rich aunt”, I laughed with her. “So tell me, anyone in your life?”, her mood changes, she faced down then played with her drink. “I told you I want nothing to do with dating Ziyanda”, her tone is off. Well I don’t blame her coz I even told myself the same thing after I was played by the Ndwandwe boys. Her situation is a bit different from mine, she was once married but because she couldn’t give her husband children, the husband decided to take a second wife, that when she drew a line, to never be I’m a polygamous marriage.
“I know what Simthandile did but you deserve to love bro”, she school her head, as she’s about to answer me the waitress came with our food, then she left. “No something is wrong with me Ziyanda, and please let stop talking about this”, I nodded not because I understand, but because It her wish. We continue with small talk here and there while eating our food.
