The moon was full on the sky, with the shining of the stars on the side, making the streets to be more brighter. Nhlanzeko parked his car, he looked at Cebo who wasn’t fully healed from the accident but already playing detective Ndwandwe on his mother. “You ready to do this?”, Cebo nodded . He took out a cigarette, then lit it before getting out of the car. “What if he doesn’t give us what we want?”, Nhlanzeko asked.
“Then we will be forced to drag his family in to this”, Nhlanzeko sighed. They promised that once they get married, they won’t go back to this kind of life, being a gangster and doing all of that. Cebo puffed the cigarette then passed it to Nhlanzeko, who took it then pulled few puffed before throwing it away. They looked at each other before going near the windmill. Sbuda is standing there with doctor Jordan on the floor with his hands and feets tied.
“Sbuda”, Nhlanzeko said as they approach him. “Ahhh brazzo”, he drew closer to them as they greet each other. “Nayi keh lendoda, wami Umsebenzi uphelile lah”(here’s your man, my work is done here). He said walking passes them but Cebo held his arm, he stood on his tracks then looked at him. “You not done here Sbuda, stay with us”. They went to him, Jordan raised his head to look at them. “Doctor Jordan”, Nhlanzeko said, “we meet again”, he added burying his hand on his pant’s pockets. Jordan sniffles showing he was crying, “Mr Ndwandwe please….. please don’t kill me I have a little sister that I have to take care of and my wife, please”.
“Well we won’t kill you Doctor Jordan…..but you participate, we ask you answer is that right?”- Cebo. Jordan nodded then faced down, Nhlanzeko squat near him. “Who donated Cebolenkosi blood?”, he asked, his voice soft. “I don’t know…..it was an anonymous “. Nhlanzeko nodded then turned to look and Cebo and Sbuda, “so it wasn’t his father, Mr Ndwandwe?”. Jordan shook his head. “Mrs Ndwandwe came to my office then gave me a deal I wouldn’t have said no to it, she told me to just lie and she will pay me half a million”.
Nhlanzeko sat down, he turned to look at Jordan again. “So you telling me Mrs Ndwandwe payed you to lie to us and say my father was the match even if he wasn’t a match?”, Jordan nodded. “Who payed you?”, Cebo asked, he can squat. “I don’t know “, Jordan answered with his shaking voice. “Where’s your phone?”, Cebo asked again. Jordan showed his pockets using his head, Nhlanzeko took out his phone from the pocket. He opened it using his finger print, he goes to his app. “When did you got paid?”- Nhlanzeko.
“The same day, around 17:00”, Nhlanzeko looked for it until he found who pay him, he looked at Cebo. “Here it say Mr Z. Mtungwa”, Nhlanzeko said looking at Cebo. Now who is Mr Mtungwa and what is it that he has with MaShandu. Cebo clicked his tongue then turned to walked back to the car. Nhlanzeko looked at Sbuda then doctor Jordan, “I’ll come to see you tomorrow, make sure you don’t run away or do something that you will regrets your whole life, siyezwana?”, Jordan nodded.
He gave Sbuda his phone then told him to untie him. He walked to the car, found Cebo leaning on the car , smoking. He shook his head as he approached him, “so MaShandu cheated on dad?”. He chuckled then puffed the cigarette. Nhlanzeko looked at his brother,”so I’m not a Ndwandwe?”. Cebo said his voice beginning to be scratchy, “you not my brother?”. Tears are at their tip on his eyes, he wish he could screamed his lungs out but at the same time he wish he could just get inside a dark deep hole and bury himself.
“Why would…..MaShandu do this? After all these years, what made her to cheat on dad?”. Nhlanzeko just kept quiet, he doesn’t know what to say or do at the moment. He went closer to his brother then gave him a hug. “You will always be a Ndwandwe no matter what, whether by blood or water, unguMkhatshwa Wena”. They stayed like that for a moment until Cebo gathered himself. After he was okay they got in the car then drove back home.
_NHLANZEKO NDWANDWE _
I found Kago already asleep yesterday, now it in the morning. I just woke up and she is not in this room. Where could she be, I got out of the bed, walked to the bathroom. Washed my face the brushed my teeth, I heard the door opening and closing. After I walked back to the room, Kago just put a tray on top of the drawer, now she is fixing the bed. I walked closer to her, I stood behind her then my hand went to her waist.
She froze, I don’t know I’ve scared her or what. “Sawubona mama”, she heaved a sigh, “Yebo, can..can I continue here please?”. She sounds so nervous, I chuckled then pressed my lower body on her ass, making sure she feel my morning erection. I see her swallowing, her body tenses up. I so want to laugh at her but she will be angry, I had never dated or slept with a virgin before, I wonder how it is.
“Ndwandwe can I continue here please”, her voice is on down and soft, she is whispering. “Khuluma nami mama, khuluma nendoda uthi kwenzenjan”(talk to me, talk to your man, what wrong?). She faced down, I want her to ask me in my language, “uhhm kodwa Ndwandwe, ngyakcela”. Her assent but I won’t laugh at her, I kissed her neck, then her chick before letting her out of my grip. “Here’s your breakfast”, she said not looking at me.
