The Throne of Thorns Novel Chapter 462

Wings of Broken Time by Alina Das 462

Chapter 462

Chapter 462

Sharon, delicately savoring a piece of cake, turned to her friend. “Does my idiot brother sound like he’s asking for a favor?”

Her friend shook her head. “He sounds like he owns the place.”

Sharon shrugged. “Not happening.”

Torrin gritted his teeth. “Sharon!”

She set down her fork and dabbed her lips with a napkin. “Don’t you dare raise your voice at me. Who begged me to bring him here? One more outburst and I’m calling Dad.”

Torrin fell silent, defeated.

While he’d been dealing with Avril, Larissa had reached the suite. Blocked by Avril, who now stood in the middle of the hallway with her arms crossed, Torrin could only shout her name in frustration. “Larissa!”

Larissa glanced at him for a beat before disappearing into the Blessing Suite, ignoring him completely. She sat down and took the cup of coffee Haskell slid toward her, downing it in one go.

“What’s wrong?” Haskell asked, noticing the murderous look in her eyes as she’d watched Lucius. He refilled her cup.

Larissa tapped her fingers on the ceramic. “I genuinely want to gut a scumbag like Lucius.”

While Nightveil had dug up some dirt on the Lincoln family’s illicit dealings, most of those operations had been cleaned up, leaving behind no concrete evidence. Leaking what they had would cause a stir but wouldn’t be a fatal blow. The few actionable pieces of intel had already been used by Haskell to get Jagger thrown in jail. To truly crush the Lincolns and corner Lucius, she needed fresh, undeniable proof.

Haskell didn’t question her sudden fury. Instead, he smiled warmly. “You start the carving. If you can’t finish the job, I’ll be right there to help you land the final blow.”

Larissa turned to him, her gaze clear and resolute. “I’m serious this time, Haskell. I’m going to uproot the Lincoln family so completely they’ll never recover. It’s going to drag a lot of powerful people into the fray, and even your family will face pressure from all sides.”

Haskell remained unperturbed, a calm smile playing on his lips as if he had everything under control.

“Taking down the Lincolns has its risks, but it’s manageable. No matter what happens, I’ll be by your side, protecting you. You just do what you need to do without any hesitation. The only thing I ask is that you remember to come home at night after we’re married.”

His last sentence made her chuckle. “We’re not even married yet, and you’re already worried about sleeping alone?”

Haskell gestured toward the window. “With a lovesick rival that persistent camped outside our door, how can I not be?”

The sounds of Torrin and Avril’s argument were still audible from the hallway. Larissa had to admit,

she was surprised by his tenacity. He was as relentless now as he had been when he first pursued her.

But so what? She didn’t tolerate people testing her feelings. One test always led to another, followed by endless suspicion. What she needed was unconditional trust, the kind that let her place her back in someone’s hands without a second thought.

She smiled playfully. “Don’t worry. I never go back to an ex. And that goes for you, too, Haskell. If you ever break up with me or call off the engagement, even as a joke, I won’t allow it.”

Haskell’s beautiful eyes shone with conviction. “Larissa, I’m not that foolish. Even if I can’t lock you by my side forever, I would never, ever push you away.”

“Good. Now, let’s get down to business.” Larissa took out her phone and dialed. “Lenora, it’s time.”
