Chapter 460

Without another word, Haskell signaled for Crispin to push him toward the elevator to the second floor. The second floor was a series of open–air suites with a charming, rustic decor. Crispin wheeled Haskell to the entrance of their reserved suite, the Blessing Suite.

Just then, a cheerful voice called out, “Haskell!”

Avril was leaning against the railing of the adjacent suite, the Fortune Suite. She waved enthusiastically, then said something to her friends before hurrying over.

“Haskell,” she said, leaning on the railing of his suite, “I know Larissa isn’t here as a representative of Starlight Media, but why didn’t she come with you?”

Haskell, who was pouring himself a cup of coffee, smiled. “She’s here. She just had to go upstairs to prepare something first.”

“Oh!” Avril’s face lit up. She knew Larissa wouldn’t back down from a fight. That idiot Milton had been crowing in the group chat that Larissa was too scared of Lucius to show up.

“Haskell, you should know, all the usual suspects are here,” Avril said, lowering her voice.

“Solon Schwartz from the Schwartz family. The Fraser and Garrick brothers. And Sharon and Torrin Dillon from the Dillon family.”

“I’m sure everyone but Solon is just here for the show,” she continued. “Everyone in Regal City knows that Larissa has made an enemy of the Lincoln family, and that Lucius is planning to crush the Judsons. Today’s battle for the rights to ‘Heaven’s Will‘ is his opening salvo. If Larissa didn’t show up, she’d be the laughingstock of the entire city.”

Haskell took a sip of his coffee. “How interesting that Solomon and Faith aren’t here for such a lively

event.”

“Oh, you haven’t heard?” Avril said, her eyes wide with gossip. “Faith was missing for two days, and when she turned up, she was sick. She’s in agonizing pain every night, and the doctors can’t figure out what’s wrong with her. She’s been in the hospital ever since. I guess they’re not in the mood for a party.”

Haskell’s expression didn’t change, but he knew exactly what was wrong with Faith. The poison Larissa had given her was taking effect.

In the Harvest Suite, Sharon looked at her brother, who was slumped in his chair, looking miserable.

“Oh, for heaven’s sake, you’re the one who begged me to bring you here. Stop sulking. Haskell is here. Do you really think Larissa would be far behind?”

At the mention of her name, Torrin sat up straight, his eyes glued to the conference hall below, afraid

to miss her arrival.

A few minutes later, Larissa appeared on the ground floor.

Torrin’s eyes lit

up,

and he jumped to his feet.

Sharon rolled her eyes. What a hopeless case.

“I can’t believe she actually came,” Damon muttered, stealing a glance at Lucius. “She must have heard that Haskell was here and gotten a confidence boost. Does she really think he can outbid us? He can barely hold on to his own position in the Palmer family. How much is he really willing to spend

on her?”

Lucius, who had been fiddling with the ring on his thumb, stopped. His eyes narrowed. “She’s overestimating herself.”

Suddenly, Larissa looked up and met his gaze. In front of everyone, she slowly raised a hand and dragged her thumb across her throat.

The crowd gasped.

“Did she just…?!”

“Is she openly challenging Mr. Lincoln?!”

“She’s got guts! No one in Regal City would dare to do that! Even Mr. Palmer was only speaking in veiled terms!”
