Zendar agreed without a second thought. “Done. That’s hardly a request. If it weren’t for your help, Larissa, the Schwartz family’s cultivation base wouldn’t even be running so smoothly.”
Luther leaned forward eagerly. “What about me? Is there anything I can do to help?”
“I was hoping you could serve as a medical consultant at Judson Pharmaceuticals for one year,” Larissa said. “It would be a great opportunity for my father and his team to learn more about top–tier medical science.”
Luther nodded. “Consider it done.”
Finally, she turned to Kimberly.
“Kimberly, if possible, I’d like to ask that the patent rights for your next new drug be sold to Judson Pharmaceuticals after my father takes over.”
Kimberly nodded. “I can agree to that. But there’s no guarantee I’ll successfully develop a new breakthrough drug. It could take three years, five, maybe even a decade.”
“That’s fine,” Larissa said.
With the help of Zendar, Luther, and Kimberly, she was confident that under her father’s management, Judson Pharmaceuticals would achieve a major breakthrough. Paxton would never get his hands on it again.
At seven o’clock, the engagement ceremony officially began.
Zoltan, accompanied by Thatch and Draven, slowly walked onto the beautifully decorated stage to give the opening remarks.
“Good evening, everyone. Tonight is the engagement party for my grandson, Haskell, and the lovely Ms. Larissa of the Judson family. I sincerely thank you all for being here to celebrate with us and for your blessings.”
Zoltan’s speech was brief. He then passed the microphone to Thatch.
“I am Haskell’s father. I am overjoyed to see my son’s future finally settled. I only hope that from this day forward, my son Haskell will lead a smooth, happy, and fulfilling life.”
His voice was cold, a stark contrast to the warm words he spoke. After a few perfunctory, insincere sentences, he passed the microphone to Draven without a change in his flat expression.
Draven stepped up to the microphone and looked out at Haskell and Larissa in the audience.
“I am Draven, the younger brother of tonight’s groom–to–be, Haskell. I’m sure many of you know my brother, but my name is probably unfamiliar. It is only because of this important day for my brother that I have the honor of standing here and introducing myself. As Haskell’s brother, I truly hope for his happiness. I hope he and my future sister–in–law will marry and have children soon, and that he will smoothly become the next heir of the Palmer family.”
The moment those words left his mouth, several members of the Palmer family seated below shot

him looks of displeasure.
Waiting backstage, Larissa scoffed. “Draven certainly knows how to make enemies for you.”
Haskell, seated in his wheelchair, watched Draven on stage with an unreadable calm.
“This will be the last time he has the chance to speak like that as a member of the Palmer family,” he said with a faint smile.
Down below, at the Palmer family’s designated table, Tobias glanced at the impassive Trevor across from him before turning to his own son.
“Solomon,” he said, “your grandfather will officially announce the heir to the Palmer family before the end of the year.”
Solomon scowled. “He’s still dragging it out for another three months? It seems Grandpa is still holding out hope for Haskell’s legs to recover.”
“Indeed,” Tobias said noncommittally. “You have three months to win his approval. Otherwise, your chance to become the Palmer family heir will be gone for good.”
Solomon nodded, his eyes filled with determination. “I know, Dad.”
Across the table, Fraser let out a soft laugh. “Solomon, if the incident with Garrick and the performance of the Judson family’s true heiress tonight are any indication, Haskell’s woman is not going to be a pushover. She’ll be a great asset to him. I hear she has medical skills. It’s not impossible that she could heal his legs.”
