Wings of Broken Time by Alina Das 262
Chapter 262
Racked with guilt for ever doubting her, Finley managed to say, “Mom”
It was just that one word, he couldn’t bring himself to say more.
Vivica understood his meaning and suppressed her suspicions, choosing to believe Larissa’s words were just a ploy to drive a wedge between them.
Satisfied that she had planted a seed of discord in Vivica’s family, Larissa turned back with a smile. “Zendar, Luther, Kimberly, let me show you to another table.”
“Of course,” the three of them replied in unison.
Larissa scanned the banquet hall, then turned to her new parents. “Mom, it looks like all of our guests have arrived. You and Dad should take your seats. The engagement ceremony will be starting soon.”
Sapphira and Neville nodded. “Alright.”

Larissa then smiled at Kiernan. “Grandpa, I’ll be back as soon as I get Zendar and the others settled.”
Kiernan waved her off. “Go on.”
Watching Larissa’s retreating back, Honora dug her nails into her palms. Go on and gloat, Larissa. You won’t be smiling for much longer.
As the start of the ceremony drew near, Finley scanned the crowd, searching for Draven. He was anxious to see what scheme Draven had cooked up for the evening using the information he had provided.
He didn’t spot Draven, but at the table where Larissa was seating the three powerful magnates, he saw an unexpected face.
Mr. Lawson, from the Regal City’s largest auction house.
Finley was stunned. What was he doing at a table for Larissa’s personal guests?
“Thank you so much for the invitation tonight, Ms. Judson!” Mr. Lawson exclaimed, rising respectfully from his seat as Larissa approached.
He knew this trip was worth it. The engagement party was a who’s who of the city’s elite. Just the three people next to her were figures most people never had the chance to meet. He owed this entire experience to Larissa’s generosity.
“Don’t mention it,” Larissa said with a gracious smile. “In the future, I’ll be counting on your help with my business in Regal City.”
“Absolutely, of course!” Mr. Lawson said, flattered.
He leaned in closer and lowered his voice. “Finley saw me. He clearly has no idea why I’m one of your invited guests.”
Larissa stifled a laugh. “Let him wonder. It will give him something to do tonight.”
Mr. Lawson chuckled at that.

Chapter 262
After Zendar sat down next to his son, Solon, he clapped him firmly on the shoulder. “So, son, have you been taking good care of Larissa here in Regal City?”
Solon gave a wry smile. “I’d like to, but you know Larissa. She’s so capable she never gives me a chance to step in. Besides, there’s someone much better suited for that job now.”
He gestured toward Haskell.
Haskell smiled. “Even I need Larissa to give me a chance.”
Zendar joined in the teasing. “That’s true. These days, you have to get in line if you want to take care of Larissa.”
Larissa couldn’t help but laugh. “Zendar, you’re exaggerating.”
Once the laughter subsided, Zendar grew more serious. “Larissa, we weren’t sure what to get you as a gift. We figured you already have everything you could ever want, no matter how precious. So, Kimberly, Luther, and I decided to grant you one request–anything within our power.”
Larissa didn’t hesitate. “In that case, I’ll take you up on that. My grandfather promised me that if Paxton doesn’t produce results in six months, my father will take over Judson Pharmaceuticals. When that happens, Zendar, I’m hoping to partner with the medicinal herb cultivation base you’ve developed.”
