The Heart Surgeon’s Last Patient Novel Chapter 312

Night Carved Paths Into Silence by Zyrel Ash ` 312

Before Madeleine could nod, Kevin suddenly tugged on her

hand.

“Mom, you should go with Dad.”

“Kev?”

Madeleine looked at him, surprised.

“I know you’re worried about Mrs. Miller too, Mom. I’ll be fine. I

can stay here and play with Aunt Rebecca.”

Madeleine’s nose tingled.

What did she do to deserve such a thoughtful son?

“Sweetheart, are you sure you’ll be okay?”

“Yeah!”

Kevin nodded firmly. He was a big boy now.

In a situation like this, he knew he needed to take care of

himself and not worry the adults.

Chapter 312

After leaving the little guy with Rebecca and Adrian, Madeleine,

Roderick, and Bradley rushed to the hospital together.

On the way, Roderick was on the phone with the maid who took

care of Mrs. Miller, trying to get more information.

It turned out they had scheduled a yoga teacher to come to the

house for a prenatal yoga class today, which would help with

the delivery in two or three months.

But the teacher suddenly canceled, so Mrs. Miller decided to go

out for a walk instead.

Owen was worried and stayed right by her side. But while he was just getting her a cup of water, she collapsed in the mall.

“So, Dad wasn’t there when it actually happened.”

“Yeah.”

Roderick nodded. “We’ll have to ask Mrs. Miller.”

Soon, they arrived at the hospital.

Mrs. Miller had already been taken to the emergency room in

the OB/GYN department.

Bradley went to check with the medical team. After learning

that besides Dr. Eleanor, the others were also top OB/GYN

specialists, he felt a little relieved.

“Owen, don’t worry. Mrs. Miller will be fine.”

Bradley walked over to Owen. He was sitting on a chair with his

head down, his face grim, not saying a word.

Madeleine bought some water and crouched down.

“Dad, have some water.”

Owen’s tense nerves finally eased a little. He didn’t want to

drink, his throat was dry and tight, making it hard to even

swallow.

But seeing Madeleine’s worried expression, he took it without a

word.

All they could do was wait.

The group fell into a silent understanding. The air seemed to

freeze, with only the glaring red of the indicator light and the

smell of disinfectant hanging in the air.

Time ticked by, each second feeling exceptionally long.

Owen remained in the same position, his back straight, his

hands clenched into fists on his knees.

Madeleine watched him, her heart aching a little.

Finally, the door to the emergency room was pushed open from

the inside.

Bradley was the closest. Seeing it was Dr. Eleanor, he quickly

went up to her.

“Dr. Eleanor, it’s Bradley. How is my aunt?”

Owen, who was sitting on the bench, quickly stood up. His legs

were numb from sitting for so long, and he stumbled, steadied

by Roderick and Madeleine.

“Doctor, my wife… how is she?”

“Don’t worry.”

Eleanor took off her mask, revealing a kind–faced woman

whose tone was instantly reassuring.

“The patient is out of immediate danger. There were some signs of placental abruption, and her blood pressure is a little high. Although she’s still unconscious, her condition is stable

for now. We’ll continue to monitor her for the next 24 hours.”

When she finished, Dr. Eleanor paused for a couple of seconds

and glanced at Bradley.

Being a doctor himself, Bradley knew that Dr. Eleanor was

sugarcoating it.

He thought for a moment before saying, “Dr. Eleanor, please

just be straight with us.”

“Over the next 24 hours, if there’s any sign of trouble, we might

have to terminate the pregnancy to save the mother.”

At those words, several pairs of worried eyes turned to Owen.

They knew better than anyone how much Owen had been looking forward to this child.

Owen swayed slightly, his face turning even paler, but he

quickly steadied himself.

He took a deep breath, his eyes filled with deep pain as he tried

to stay calm.

“I understand.”

His voice was a little hoarse.

“Dr. Eleanor, the mother’s safety is the top priority. No matter

what happens, save her. Please.”

His tone was firm, without a hint of hesitation.

The child was precious, of course, but Mrs. Miller was his

irreplaceable love and partner.

A flash of admiration and reassurance crossed Dr. Eleanor’s

eyes, and she nodded solemnly:

“Don’t worry, our entire team will do everything we can.”

Soon, Mrs. Miller was wheeled out and transferred to the ICU.

She was still unconscious, her face pale, but her breathing

seemed much more stable.

Owen immediately followed, his eyes fixed on the bed, staying

right with her.

Bradley went to discuss the medical details with Dr. Eleanor,

and just as Roderick and Madeleine were about to join them,

Roderick’s phone rang.

“Maddie.”
