In contrast to the situation, Elaine felt a heavy burden of guilt over what happened to Jason. She believed he didn’t deserve the severe treatment he had received, especially since his intentions were good from the start.

When Jason called her, she was filled with joy, but a twinge of guilt lingered in her heart.

His sincere voice came through the phone. “Auntie, I want to apologize for what occurred at the hospital the other day. I was misled and ended up bringing a fake doctor to treat Uncle. I truly regret it, and I haven’t had the chance to apologize to you…”

“Oh!” Elaine exclaimed. “Jason, what are you saying? I have always appreciated your good intentions, and I’m truly sorry for what you went through. I should be the one apologizing!”

“No, Auntie, it’s my fault for not checking Dr. Lynch’s credentials beforehand,” he replied.

Then he added, “I would love to invite you to lunch one day so I can personally apologize, if that’s alright with you.”

Elaine felt a surge of excitement at the invitation!

To be honest, she didn’t think Jason had done anything wrong in this situation.

In fact, she considered him one of the victims in this unfortunate event. After all, he had even suffered a broken leg because of the incompetent Charlie. She felt sympathy for this innocent young man.

Moreover, Jason’s call improved Elaine’s perception of him.

Just look at him! He was affluent, kind-hearted, generous, and incredibly respectful towards her! He would make an outstanding husband for her daughter!

If only she could encourage her daughter to spend more time with Jason and distance herself from the clueless Charlie, her daughter could soon find herself marrying a wealthy man!
