Married at First Sight Chapter 985

Chapter 985
Duncan replied, looking bewildered, “What is your nana trying to do, Zachary? Does she think I have feelings for Liberty? Honestly, I only care about Sonny. That’s it.”
Zachary recognized that his best friend’s eagerness to clarify was a clear indication of his feelings.
His nana had a keen eye for these matters.
She wouldn’t be probing Duncan if he weren’t interested in his sister-in-law that way.
In the past, Zachary had observed how fate seemed to bring Duncan and Liberty together.
Wiltspoon was a bustling major city, yet the two kept running into each other. If that wasn’t fate, then what was?
“Hmmm… I adore Sonny too. It’s your business whether you like my sister-in-law. It’s not my concern, but I hope you only have feelings for Sonny. I don’t want you hanging around the diner because of Sonny’s mother.”
Knowing Duncan was Zachary’s best friend, he understood that Duncan would not make a good match for his sister-in-law, primarily due to Mrs. Lewis.
Liberty was a divorcee, and Mrs. Lewis would not be fond of her, even if Liberty were single.
“Of course, it’s all for Sonny,” Duncan added.
“I truly care for the child. Why do you think I’m interested in Liberty?”
Even when he showed concern for Liberty, it was solely because she was Sonny’s mother.
“Zachary, please tell your nana not to try to play matchmaker for me.”
Zachary smiled and replied, “Is my nana a cupid? You all seem worried that she might take an interest in you. Don’t fret. Nana is busy with all her grandsons and doesn’t have time for her grandson’s best friends just yet.”
“Mr. Young-Johnson asked me to set Mr. Johnson up with some girl. Otherwise, I wouldn’t be interfering in his affairs. I mean, Nana helped me get the girl. That’s why Mr.

Young-Johnson sought assistance from Nana, suggesting that she start her own dating agency to connect girls with eligible bachelors like Duncan. Grandma May would thrive in that business. If she could successfully match someone like Duncan, an eligible bachelor in his thirties, the Lewises would spare no expense to reward her generously.

Duncan fell silent for a moment before saying, “Grandma May is so young at heart. Her antics today really startled me.” He avoided making eye contact with her, feeling a strange sense of guilt creep in.

“Alright, that’s all I want to discuss. I just needed to vent. Dinner tonight?”

“No. My wife is bringing me a packed dinner. I’ve been dealing with an upset stomach lately, so she’s preparing all my meals. She’s nursing me back to health.”

Noticing the pride in Zachary’s tone, Duncan quietly ended the call. So what if Zachary had a wife? Duncan could find a wife if he chose to. Zachary acted as if the rest of them had no chance of getting married, believing he had bragging rights because he was already married.

Zachary left work shortly after four o’clock, surrounded by his security team, and arrived at Wiltspoon School. John’s car was parked outside the shop, but all four tires were flat, making it obvious to anyone passing by.

Though John wanted to call a tow truck to remove his car, he hesitated to do so in broad daylight for fear of Serenity’s reaction. He decided to wait until her shop closed before calling for a tow and getting his tires replaced.

By the time Zachary arrived at the bookshop, Elisa was already there.

“You’re here, Elisa.”

Zachary felt somewhat less awkward around her now that they had spent some time together.

broke the ice as cousins-in-law.
