“Why aren’t you eating with us?”
“I have a lunch meeting as well. The client has arrived, so I need to go. I can’t keep them waiting too long,” Mrs. Bucham replied as she stood up. She reluctantly left after reminding Josh of a few important details.
Once Mrs. Bucham departed, Jasmine let out a sigh of relief and said to Josh, “Your mom is very enthusiastic.”
“All the elders in my family are like that. I know how they are, so I’ve never told them I was pursuing you. They would undoubtedly start sending betrothal gifts to your house before we’re even engaged.”
“They’re even more impatient than my parents…” Jasmine remarked.
Her parents and relatives had a very favorable impression of Josh. It almost seemed like if she didn’t accept him, she would be subjected to a family lynching. However, they weren’t as eager as Mrs. Bucham, allowing her time to think about it since this was, after all, her marriage and her life.
Her parents offered advice, but ultimately, the decision was hers to make.
Meanwhile, Serenity paused in front of her sister’s shop.
Carrying Sonny out of the car, she noticed that Liberty had already packed everything and was just waiting for her sister to pick her up so they could return to the place she had rented.
“Liberty.”
“Mommy.”
Liberty stepped outside to greet them. Upon seeing her sister, who seemed transformed, she assessed her appearance and smiled, saying, “Seren, you look stunning with your new hairstyle. It really suits you.”
“Aunt Audrey and Elisa helped me choose it. Do you like it? They also picked out a lot of clothes for me. I’ll show you once we get back.”
The new clothes and shoes were all in her car.
She had nearly spent all her savings shopping with her aunt.
The money Zachary provided for household expenses was available, but Serenity chose not to use his card. “Have you eaten, Liberty?” she asked. “You guys took a while, so I cooked some noodles for myself at the shop,” Liberty replied. She picked up her son and inquired with concern, “What did Aunt Audrey say?”
