Anticipating that Serenity would decline his gesture, Zachary issued a threat before she could respond. “If you don’t accept the envelope, I’ll throw these papers out the window. You’re the head of the household—why should I care if you’re indifferent about our family assets? All I care about is you.”

After a week apart, Serenity believed he understood her perspective and was ready to soften his domineering demeanor when he requested a meeting. Yet, she could only sigh at his threat.

Serenity held his gaze for an extended moment before picking up the envelope. She extracted a black card from it and handed it to him, saying, “As a man and a CEO, you need a black card to signify your status. Keep the bank card; I’ll hold onto the rest for now.”

Seeing it as a small victory, Zachary accepted the black card and replied, “I’ve transferred a sum into the bank account for household expenses. Buy whatever you need; don’t hesitate. Check with your sister to see if she wants to purchase a place. You can start looking at houses.”

Without tapping into Zachary’s funds, Serenity had enough savings to support her sister financially. At the very least, she could help cover the house deposit.

However, Liberty declined the offer. She wanted to focus on keeping her breakfast business running first. If things went well, she believed she would be able to afford a house in a few years. Liberty didn’t want to risk pouring money into both the business and a mortgage if her venture didn’t succeed.
