Liberty glared at her ex-husband and remarked, “Serenity is too busy to involve herself in your problems. Your recent career struggles indicate a lack of ability on your part. Don’t shift the blame onto others; you need to address your own shortcomings.”
It was only now that her sister realized she was married to Zachary. How could her sister have had the time to deceive Hank?
“It must be either Serenity or Zachary behind this. I’m convinced that Serenity had Zachary set me up, which is why Jessica and I are struggling at work.”
Hank’s eyes were filled with resentment.
He was no fool. Just after divorcing Liberty, his career took a nosedive. His boss reprimanded him daily, and after deductions this month, he was left with only his base salary. He could no longer remain at Waltharn Electronics.
At present, everyone in the company was eager for him to leave.
If no one had deceived him, his life wouldn’t have spiraled downward so suddenly, especially since he had been thriving before.
Perhaps it wasn’t Serenity’s doing, as she had only just learned that Zachary was “the” Zachary York.

“If you believe Zachary deceived you, then you should confront him. Hank, do you consider yourself important? What is Zachary’s status? Why would he bother with someone as inconsequential as you?”
“If he had put effort into deceiving you, it would have been a waste of time. The real issues lie with your own shortcomings.”
“You’re always publicly displaying your affection for Jessica, which is why your work is suffering. Haha, that’s not surprising,” Hank scoffed. “If Zachary wants to trick me, he can do it with just one call. He won’t need to get his hands dirty.”
“Whatever. If you’re brave enough, go confront Zachary. I’m not him, and I know nothing. Either way, I fulfilled my promise, so you can’t blame me,” Liberty replied as she carried her son and walked past Hank toward the building.
Hank turned and glared fiercely at Liberty’s back, suppressing his urge to attack her. Given that Liberty was holding Sonny, he couldn’t act out in front of the child. The potential consequences were too much for him to bear. Not only would Serenity and her husband seek revenge, but he also couldn’t withstand Liberty’s cruelty.
A cold breeze swept through, bringing Hank back to his senses as he pondered why he had sought out Liberty in the first place.
Suddenly, his phone rang. He pulled it out to see that Jessica was calling.
“Hey, Jessica. I’m on my way home,” he said. Earlier at a social function, he hadn’t brought Jessica along, telling her that since it was their wedding day, he didn’t want her to feel exhausted. He had managed to convince her to return home after work.
“Be careful driving. I’ll wait for you at home,” she replied.
“Alright,” Hank said as he walked toward his car.
Once inside, he remembered how Liberty would always remind him not to drive after drinking, emphasizing that drunk driving could endanger both himself and others.
