Chapter 796
Zachary responded with a question, “Is that unusual? Cooking runs in my family. One of my brothers can cook even better than the chef at Wiltspoon Hotel.”
The female reporters sighed enviously, “Your wife is so fortunate.”
“I think I’m the luckier one. Seren treats me well and is an incredible cook. She always prepares my favorite meals,” he replied.
The jealousy in the room was palpable, almost overwhelming before they could ask any further questions.
Although the young couple was not together at that moment, Zachary’s words and the joy on his face clearly conveyed his happiness in married life.
The media concluded the interview after inquiring about a few more details of his life.
“Oh, and just a reminder: please don’t bother my wife. Feel free to come to me with any questions. I’ll gladly make time for an interview. My wife prefers to maintain a quiet and
ordinary life.”
The reporters assured him, “We promise not to intrude on her without your consent.”
The most they would dare to do was take candid photos of her.
They would never approach Serenity in a disruptive manner.
Zachary signaled for his security team to escort the reporters out.
Once they had left, Zachary called his best friend.
Josh answered the phone, saying, “Do you think it’s still the holidays? Get back to work! I can’t believe you haven’t returned yet. Is the company yours or mine?”
Since returning to work, Josh had barely had a moment to breathe.
In the past, things were easier when Zachary was around, but now he had to take charge in Zachary’s absence. It was not a responsibility he would take lightly.
While the company belonged to the Yorks, it was Josh who was doing all the hard work.
As today was Valentine’s Day, Josh hoped to leave work early to buy flowers for Jasmine and invite her out for dinner.
He had
Josh called the florist to reserve a bouquet. “I’ve accepted the press interview,” Zachary said. “What interview?” Josh replied, surprised. Zachary hadn’t informed Josh about it, and since he was trying to win Jasmine’s heart, Josh had promised her he would live as an ordinary citizen and refrain from using the Buchams’ connections to invade others’ privacy.
It never occurred to Josh that he would be unaware of Zachary’s interview. Mr. Chaplin hadn’t included anything about it in the itinerary he prepared for Zachary. Had Zachary taken it upon himself to accept the interview?
“It’s an interview about my marriage,” Zachary explained. Taken aback, Josh quickly forced a smile. “So, you’re planning to come clean, are you?”
“I can only keep secrets for so long. It’s better that it comes from me than someone else. Seren and I are in a good place in our marriage right now, and today is Valentine’s Day. I thought it would be best to tell her who I am on this special day. She might not be… that angry.”
This idea had come from Ben, though it was unclear if it was truly helpful. If it didn’t work out, Zachary could always get back at Ben. Poor Ben—he had merely made a suggestion, but the consequences would fall on Zachary.
Now that everything was out in the open, Zachary prepared himself for the inevitable outburst from his wife. Meanwhile, Josh remarked, “I’m passing my work on to Callum so I can deliver flowers to Jasmine.” He didn’t want to miss that opportunity!
