“I’m sorry about this, Mr. York,” Mr. Lowe said.
Zachary replied calmly, “This is why I asked you to meet me tonight. As long as you understand now, it’s fine.”
“I do! I understand now!”
The Lowe couple stood up to leave, eager to return home and confront their son for his behavior.
As Zachary pointed out, did that mean their son could continue to bother Serenity simply because she wasn’t Zachary’s wife? That would be morally unacceptable.
Their son, the young master of the family, was just twenty-two and had a bright future ahead. It was not as if he couldn’t find a wife, so why was he so determined to cling to a married woman?
Once the Lowes left, Zachary headed home immediately.
Upon arriving and seeing Serenity peacefully asleep, he felt a sense of relief. He removed his jacket and lay down beside her, propping himself on one elbow with a hand resting on her waist. Unable to resist, he pressed a gentle kiss to her lips while gazing at her serene face.
“Serenity, in this life, you can only be my wife, Zachary York’s wife. No one can take you from me!”
With his beloved wife in his arms and contentment in his heart, Zachary drifted into dreams.
In contrast, the Lowe couple returned to their family villa, seething with anger.
As soon as Mrs. Lowe stepped out of the car, she called for the bodyguards she had hired to keep an eye on Shawn.
“Didn’t I tell you that Shawn isn’t allowed to contact Serenity? How did he get a new phone number to reach her?!”
The bodyguards exchanged glances, unaware that Shawn had changed his number.
One bodyguard, who Shawn had managed to bribe, turned pale. Fortunately, he was standing at the back with his head down and went unnoticed by Mr. and Mrs. Lowe.
Lowe did his best to calm himself and avoid panicking. As long as Shawn Lowe didn’t betray him, he would be okay.
Mr. Lowe wasn’t inclined to interrogate the bodyguards; instead, he went straight upstairs.
When he reached his son’s room, he angrily kicked the door and shouted, “Shawn Lowe, open up!”
Mrs. Lowe, concerned that her husband might resort to violence, quickly left the bodyguards and rushed up the stairs.
Shawn Lowe, however, did not respond. He was very drunk and sleeping soundly, completely oblivious to his father’s yelling and kicking. He didn’t want to wake up, as his dreams allowed him to approach Serenity without any limitations.
