Married at First Sight Chapter 762

Chapter 762
“My mom doesn’t mean it. Why are you so fixated on this? Jessica, to be honest about the bride price, I think your family is asking for too much. I’m willing to give your family over seven hundred thousand dollars if they cover the wedding expenses and provide additional gifts of equal value.
“Honestly, I’d be satisfied if they offered half that value, but your parents said they would only gift a few sets of bedding and an e-bike. Altogether, those gifts amount to less than ten thousand dollars.
“I overheard your parents during their visit with mine, discussing how they would allocate the bride price between your two brothers for home renovations and new cars. Your parents are keeping sixty thousand dollars, leaving only six thousand dollars for you and the wedding.”
Hank admitted he was furious after eavesdropping on how Jessica’s parents planned to use the money.
He had a fortune of around two million dollars, but since over a million went to Liberty, he had less than a million remaining. However, he recently became a millionaire again after collecting a kickback and cash reward he had hinted at to the material supplier.
Still, that money wouldn’t last long with the Yateses’ excessive demands.
Jessica also believed her parents had gone too far.
The monetary gift should rightfully go to her.
She was shocked that her parents intended to give the money to her brothers for house renovations and cars when she was only receiving a few sets of bedding and an e-bike. It was painful.
Jessica’s parents, brothers, and sisters-in-law had always spoiled her.
Now, as she prepared to walk down the aisle, her parents’ true intentions were becoming evident.
They claimed she was the favorite in the family, but it seemed their real goal was to use her to enhance their own situation.

Brothers’ standard of living. Still, Jessica sided with her parents after Hank expressed his concerns. “My parents raised me and paid for my college. It wasn’t easy for them, and they invested a significant amount of money in my education. The monetary gift is simply a way to thank them for all they’ve done for me. Since the money is intended for my parents, they can choose to use it as they wish. Additionally, it’s our tradition that the bride price reflects the love the groom has for the bride, demonstrating how far he is willing to go for her.”

Hank retorted, “I earn money to provide you with a better life instead of your brothers. Think about it: we won’t be able to maintain our current lifestyle if I meet your parents’ demands. What happens if they continue to ask us for money after the wedding? Once your brothers renovate their house and buy a new car, the money will be gone. They may find reasons to keep asking us for cash. They might even become enamored with city life after visiting once and request our help with their rent or housing here.”

While Hank had a soft spot for Jessica and was willing to spoil her, he remained level-headed. Mr. and Mrs. Yates aimed to provide the best life for Jessica’s brothers through her. “My family wasn’t well-off. My brothers started working at a young age to pay for my college tuition. They faced many challenges and have sacrificed a lot for me. I should at least repay them. We have a high income and can afford to support them without compromising our standard of living, even if it means covering their rent here.”

Hank replied, “Don’t you think our boss has been finding us less favorable lately? I doubt we’ll be working there much longer.” They might not enjoy the same salary once they leave Waltham.
