Married at First Sight Chapter 701

Chapter 701
Tania’s husband had been treating her like a princess since their marriage over three decades ago. To him, Tania was the most important person in his life.
After a brief pause, Tania said to her son, “What? Are you worried I’ll criticize your wife for leaving the cooking to you while she does nothing? I mean, you just returned from a business trip and recently recovered from a long cold. She shouldn’t have allowed you to work in the kitchen.”
“I’m not saying you can’t be attentive to your wife, but don’t go overboard and spoil her. She’ll become self-centered and difficult. What if it encourages her to act however she pleases and creates problems for you?”
Zachary’s expression fell.
“Alright, alright. I won’t speak poorly of Serenity. Look at you. I’m only highlighting a few points. It’s not as if I’m claiming she’s acting this way now, but you’re already giving me attitude. Just look at that long face.”
Serenity would be thrilled to discover she was living a genuine Cinderella story. Tania’s concern was that her elevated social status might lead her to overstep boundaries, leaving her son to deal with the consequences.
Unfortunately, her well-intentioned advice upset her son instead. His handsome face soured.
“Mom, you haven’t spent much time with Serenity, so you don’t really know her. You can trust my judgment, though. You should know that Serenity is no bully.”
The sisters maintained a low profile after reuniting with their wealthy and influential aunt, Mrs. Stone. Anyone in high society would recognize Serenity and her sister as Mrs. Stone’s nieces, while outsiders remained unaware.
However, the Browns were well aware of this fact.
Hank’s parents and sister must be regretting their choices now.
Zachary had spread the word,

kitchen to assist Zachary. Meanwhile, Tania was in for a bigger surprise. “I believe you. I promise I won’t mention it again,” she said, not wanting to upset her son.

“You’re looking well. It seems you’ve put on some weight. Serenity must be taking great care of you,” Tania remarked.

“Mom, are you sure I’m gaining weight?” Zachary responded, quickly lowering his head to check his belly. It was flat; nothing was sagging. He remembered stepping on the scale during his hospital stay and noted that he was at a healthy weight.

“It’s been a while since I last saw you. I feel like you’ve gained a few pounds. You didn’t? I guess my eyesight must be failing me,” Tania said.

At that moment, Serenity came in carrying a bag of shrimp and overheard the last part of her mother-in-law’s comment. This reminded her of their previous encounter while shopping, where Tania had looked at her as if she didn’t recognize her. Later, Serenity mentioned it to Zachary, who explained that his mother had poor eyesight. It turned out he was right.

“Here’s the shrimp,” Serenity said as Zachary approached and took the bag from her. He opened it to take a look.

“They’re huge,” Serenity commented.

“Yeah,” Zachary replied, then headed to the kitchen with the bag of seafood while Serenity stayed to keep his mother company.

Noticing that Tania was sitting on the sofa without a glass of water in front of her, Serenity poured her a glass and turned on the TV. “Have a seat, Mom. I’ll help out in the kitchen,” she offered.

Tania nodded. “Go ahead. I’m not a stranger; you don’t need to fuss over me.”

Turning on her heel, Serenity entered the kitchen to assist Zachary.

kitchen.

At the very least, Serenity realized she should assist rather than just sit around waiting for dinner to be served. Tania’s disapproval of Serenity had lessened compared to before.
Ten minutes later, Tania found herself at the dinner table, despite having already eaten. She couldn’t decline her son and daughter-in-law’s invitation.
“Mom, you have to try some of Zachary’s cooking.”
With a smile, Serenity served her mother-in-law the dishes and encouraged her to taste the
food.
Tania observed her son donning disposable gloves to peel the shrimp. It was clear that the shelled shrimp wouldn’t end up on her plate. Tania felt uncertain about this.
She would have been delighted if her husband had lavished her with that kind of attention.
