“His boss arranged for me to get there. I need to hurry,” Serenity replied.

‘You should get moving then. If his boss approves the arrangements, he’ll likely have a private plane ready for you. You’ll arrive much faster.’

“Clive, you should take Serenity there.”

Mrs. Stone believed the boss Serenity referred to was Zachary. Knowing that the Yorks owned a private jet gave her confidence to allow Serenity to go.

Just a few minutes later, Clive drove Serenity away from the Stones’ residence.

During the drive, Clive said to Serenity, “I have a somewhat unreasonable request to make of you, Serenity.”

“Go ahead, Clive.”

While driving, Clive continued, ‘You should know that Elisa was in love with Mr. York. Even though she claims she will let go of her feelings for him, it’s not easy to stop loving someone you’ve cared for over the years. It will take her time to fully accept reality.’

Serenity’s thoughts drifted back to Shawn.

“I think you should avoid mentioning your husband and his company to Elisa. Elisa would…”

Serenity had never anticipated that Clive would make such a request.

After careful consideration, she recognized that Clive had a valid point. Although her husband had no connection to the affluent Mr. York, they shared the same last name, which could remind Elisa of him upon hearing it.

“You’re right, Clive. I’ll refrain from mentioning my husband in front of Elisa,” she conceded, at least intending not to say her husband’s last name aloud.

Feeling remorseful, Clive said, “I apologize, Serenity. I know this is a difficult request. Please understand that I’m looking out for my sister.”

“I disapprove of her pursuing Mr. York. Elisa isn’t capable of handling him. He’s not interested in her, but she refuses to accept that. She needs to learn from her mistakes in order to move forward.”

“She may appear cheerful every day as if nothing has happened, but she is hurting inside. She conceals her pain behind her smile.”

Serenity responded, “It’s better to smile than to cry through life. I understand the pain Elisa is hiding, but I believe she will soon overcome it. She will find a man who is right for her.”

Clive replied, “I hope she can move on soon.”

He was considering how to keep his sister away when Zachary returned to visit their mother. Only his parents should know that Serenity’s husband was Zachary.

Clive trusted that his parents would act in the same manner as he and Alice, keeping this information from Elisa.

“Elisa is a wonderful girl. She’s strong, and I believe she will meet a great man,” Clive said with a smile. “It’s no surprise that Elisa connected well and got along with…”

She knew you before realizing you were cousins and considers you a friend. You’re the first to acknowledge that she’s a nice girl.

“The public doesn’t view Elisa favorably. Many heiresses perceive her as arrogant and headstrong. People mocked her when she pursued Mr. York. As a result, she has very few true friends.”
