Chapter 654
Communication was essential.
“Sure.”
Zachary’s mind, which had been preoccupied, was now at ease.
“You’re not feeling well. Avoid cold drinks, and schedule a doctor’s appointment after work. Why not go now instead? Don’t delay. Do you have a fever?”
Zachary raised his arm to check his forehead. It was hot—no wonder he felt lightheaded.
However, he chose not to reveal the truth to Serenity. “I don’t have a fever. Don’t worry. I’m feeling fine. I’ll pick up some medicine from the pharmacy later. How are things at your aunt’s?”
“Are your uncle and cousins treating you well?”
“You seem a bit flushed. Are you sure you don’t have a fever, Zachary?”
Serenity was quite observant.
“My uncle and cousins are great. I don’t need to say much about Elisa. We get along really well. Zachary, there’s something special about blood relations. Elisa and I had never met before and didn’t even realize we were cousins, but we clicked instantly.”
Zachary smiled. “Please send my regards to your aunt since I can’t visit her yet. I’ll have time during the New Year’s holidays, and I’ll go with you to see her then.”
He planned to reveal his true identity to Serenity before visiting the Stones.
Zachary was prepared to accept any reaction Serenity might have.
As his nana always said, he deserved it.
“My aunt understands. She mentioned that tomorrow’s party is to introduce me and my sister to everyone. It would be wonderful if you could join us, Zachary. I’m not really fond of these events; I feel more at ease when you’re by my side.”
“You provide me with a sense of security. You always find a way to help me out of any trouble. To me, you’re like a superhero, Zachary.”
Zachary laughed. “I’m just fortunate to be able to help you. Let me know if you ever find yourself in a situation…”
“This is a problem you can’t solve,” she said.
“Don’t worry too much about the party. Your aunt is well-respected in Wiltspoon. Now that she has finally found you, she wants to take you under her wing and introduce you to everyone at the party.
“Everyone will be kind to you out of respect for your aunt. You shouldn’t feel burdened.”
“I want you by my side…”
That was why she expressed her feelings so openly.
“I’m sorry, Seren,” Zachary replied.
Beyond the apology, he was unsure of what else to say.
“But I feel reassured with Elisa and Jasmine there. At least I’ll know some people at the party.”
“Zachary, you don’t look well. You should go to the hospital. I’ll let you go for now, and I’ll video call you when I have time tonight. If you look worse than you already do, you must send me your address so I can drag you to the doctor!”
Serenity believed Zachary was the type to tough it out, even when he was unwell.
Many thought that taking medication could prevent illness, while others would refuse it and push through, which often only worsened their condition.
Serenity might have sounded stern, but Zachary interpreted it as her concern and care for him.
Despite feeling light-headed, he sensed his sickness fading away due to Serenity’s affection.
He smiled and replied, “I don’t have time tonight. You’ll be busy tomorrow too. Let’s have a video chat in two days. If I’m not better by then, you’re welcome to drag me to the hospital.”
