Serenity was aware that Mrs. Stone had been tirelessly searching for her sister for decades. If Mrs. Stone discovered at the end of her quest that her sister had passed away long ago, it would be a devastating blow for her. Serenity felt a pang of sadness for her own mother as well.
“Maybe it’s just a coincidence,” she thought. With a heavy heart, she remarked, “Mrs. Stone has been persistent in her search for her sister. My mom never mentioned her family when she was alive, but if she were still here, I believe she would want to reconnect with them. She once told us that she wanted to know if she had been abandoned by her biological parents or if she had been kidnapped and sold by traffickers.”
Zachary remained silent. If his late mother-in-law was indeed Mrs. Stone’s biological younger sister, that would mean Serenity and Elisa Stone were cousins, and their bond would inevitably grow stronger. As Serenity’s husband, he realized he would eventually have to accompany her to meet her aunt, which meant his true identity would soon be revealed.
“Zachary, don’t you think this is all rather dramatic? I certainly do. I never imagined that plot twists like those in novels could actually occur in real life.” Serenity sighed and continued, “My sister and I have no idea where my mom’s biological family lives, so we have no leads. We’ll just have to wait and see what Elisa’s mother says. Elisa mentioned that her mother would be returning from their seaside villa at noon.”
She did not conceal her thoughts and shared them with Elisa Stone. To Elisa, this was a promising lead. The Stones had invested immense time and resources over the years in their search for answers.
Mrs. Stone’s sister had finally been located. Regardless of whether the lead was true or false, Mrs. Stone was determined to meet with the two sisters.
“Technology has advanced so much these days. You simply need to take a DNA test to determine if you and your sister match, Mrs. Stone, to confirm your relationship,” someone suggested.
Mrs. Stone had spent a long time searching for her sister. Many individuals attempted to forge connections with the wealthy by pretending to be the missing person. However, given the Stones’ prominence, such impostors were unlikely to succeed merely due to their boldness. The Stones would certainly investigate them thoroughly.
Now, it had become even simpler. A single DNA test could reveal whether they were truly related. Impersonating someone was virtually impossible.
Unless, of course, the results of the DNA test were manipulated. Even then, that scenario was unlikely, as the Stones would be vigilant.
The fact that Clive Stone could potentially become his rival indicated that he was no fool either.
“That’s true,” Serenity responded thoughtfully.
Suddenly, she found clarity. She didn’t intend to pose as Elisa Stone’s cousin; rather, Elisa had requested her help, and she had noticed a certain resemblance between Elisa’s aunt and Sonny.
It would soon be determined whether her mother was the sister Mrs. Stone had been seeking once Mrs. Stone returned and conducted a DNA test with both the Hunt sisters.
If her mother was indeed the sister, that would be wonderful. If not, that would be acceptable as well.
Serenity was prepared to go with the flow.
Regardless of the outcome, she would accept it with composure.
Zachary remained silent after that.
