Married at First Sight Chapter 435

Chapter 435
Serenity was not naive.
Grandma May and Mrs. Lane stepped away to give the couple some privacy.
It was unusual for Zachary to drop his cold demeanor and embrace her, so she relished the experience of dating.
Hand in hand, they wandered through the Oriental garden, a style Serenity particularly adored for its antique colors and delightful fragrances.
“Zachary.”
“Yeah?”
Zachary was distracted, stealing glances at the woman beside him instead of focusing on the scenery.
When he heard Serenity call his name, he turned to her with a serious expression, as if he had been looking straight ahead all along.
“You work at York Corporation, so you must know what properties your company owns, right? How many resorts like this one has your boss invested in?”
Zachary pondered for a moment before responding, “Our company has branches in all major cities and invests in various industries. However, we’ve only developed two vacation resorts like this one. Choosing a site is quite challenging, and the capital required to establish such a resort is substantial.”
“This resort is fully owned by our company, while the one located far away in Jensburg is a joint venture with the wealthiest family in Jensburg. Due to the distance, they handle most of the management, and we hold a minority stake for the dividends.”
Serenity gazed around, unable to see the end of the Oriental garden, let alone the entire resort. Zachary had mentioned that even walking the whole day would only allow them to scratch the surface of its vastness, highlighting the resort’s size.
“Your boss’s family is indeed the richest in Wiltspoon. They are so wealthy and influential that they own properties everywhere.”
Zachary remained silent.

The York family had been established in Wiltspoon for several generations, amassing considerable wealth over the years. Moreover, every member of the York family was hardworking, which contributed to their growing fortune.

When asked about the family’s total wealth, he was uncertain, but it was certainly in the hundreds of billions.

Suddenly, Serenity patted him on the shoulder, prompting a confused look from Zachary.

“Zachary, your last name is York, and you work at York Corporation, but you’re just a manager while another person with your last name is the richest man in the city. You need to work hard! If people hear your last name, they might think you’re the heir to the York family,” she said.

Zachary chuckled. “There are many wealthy individuals in the country, and countless people share the same last name. How many of them are actually part of the York family? Besides, many people in the world have identical first and last names.”

Serenity laughed in response. “That’s true. Whenever I mention my last name is Hunt, people always ask if William Hunt is my ancestor. I checked, and my ancestors have no connection to him; we just happen to share the same last name.”

Zachary then asked, “Serenity, if I were the heir to the York family and a billionaire, would you believe it?”

Serenity laughed again. “I’d believe it if you could provide proof, but without evidence, I wouldn’t accept that you’re a billionaire. Billionaires aren’t ordinary people. Do you really think you can just bump into one on the street? We married for convenience, so if I ended up with a billionaire like that, it would be as unlikely as pigs flying.”

Working at York Corporation and sharing the last name York made it easy for others to speculate about his connection to the family.

He was the wealthiest man in the city, yet the car he drove, the house he lived in, and his daily expenses with her were no different from those of ordinary people. Furthermore, if he truly were the heir of the York family, how could he marry her, a woman without power or connections? Even if she had saved his grandmother, he shouldn’t have to repay that debt by sacrificing his marriage, right?
