Chapter 430
Serenity quickly stuffed her phone back into her pants pocket and instinctively pulled Zachary along with her.
This was their best opportunity.
Zachary immediately grasped her hand, allowing her to lead him. As they walked, he intertwined their fingers.
‘It feels so good to hold my wife’s small hand!’
Zachary, an arrogant man without any romantic experience, felt his heart melt like butter in the sun now that he was holding his wife’s hand. Serenity noticed their interlocked fingers and realized it was he who was holding onto her. She stole a glance at Zachary, noting his still-arrogant and cold expression. Internally, she thought, ‘He’s taking advantage of me while pretending to be serious.’ In response, she traced a few light strokes on his palm with her thumb. When he turned to look at her, she quickly faced ahead, adopting a serious demeanor.
When it came to seizing the moment while maintaining an air of decorum, she was not easily outdone.
Zachary smiled slightly.
He appreciated this side of her.
She was bold and did as she pleased.
“Once your sister’s situation is resolved, I’ll bring you here for a few days when you have some free time,” he said, gesturing toward the wooden villas in the distance. “Living in those houses feels nice.”
“I’ll hold you to that.”
“When have I ever lied to you?”
Serenity laughed. “Even if you did lie to me, there’s nothing I could do if you won’t admit it.” Zachary suddenly became quiet.
This silence was due to the fact that he had indeed lied to her—quite significantly.
Serenity noticed his abrupt silence and smiled, asking, “Did you really lie to me?”
Zachary was momentarily taken aback. Fortunately, the ringing of Serenity’s phone interrupted the moment.
He saved her and allowed her to breathe a sigh of relief.
The caller was Elisa. “Serenity, aren’t you at the store today?”
Elisa reached out after visiting the bookstore and not finding Serenity.
“Yeah, I took a short getaway today.” Elisa’s excitement was palpable as she asked, “Where are you? I’m so bored right now! Send me the address, and I’ll come over. Let’s have fun all day!”
“I’m at Westyard Resort. I’ll send you the address later,” Serenity replied.
Zachary, who was beside Serenity, heard her words and tightened his grip on her hand.
“This Elisa Stone is like a ghost haunting us,” he thought. “I finally have a chance to go on a date with Serenity, but now she wants to join us. Doesn’t she know that people dislike third wheels?”
“By the way, who are you with?” Elisa inquired.
“I’m with my husband and his grandmother. She wasn’t in a good mood, so we brought her out for some fresh air.”
Elisa replied regretfully, “Forget it then. You go ahead. Let me know the next time you visit, and we can go together. Have fun! The scenery there is stunning. It belongs to York Corporation.”
Serenity casually remarked, “It’s a York Corporation property? Their company really is massive; they have assets everywhere.”
Elisa laughed, saying, “They’re not just the richest family in Wiltspoon by name; they are genuinely wealthy and powerful. All the scenic locations have been acquired by them, and their resorts are particularly popular.”
Serenity stated, “The head of their family has a sharp eye.”
Elisa paused for a moment, then tried to sound casual as she said, “Mr. York does indeed have a keen eye. When he took over York Corporation, it flourished day by day. My brother is working hard just to catch up to him.”
