Married at First Sight Chapter 422

Chapter 422
With an inward sigh, Zachary lay down next to Serenity.
If he were to be with her, it should be under different circumstances.
Serenity needed to be both willing and aware.
Otherwise, everything would be unclear to her, and she wouldn’t know who she was sharing a bed with. Despite the change in environment, Serenity slept soundly, while Zachary was a different case. He had never shared a bed with anyone before, especially not with a stunning young woman who also happened to be his legal wife.
He felt completely out of his element.
In her deep slumber, Serenity even curled up against him, seeking warmth like he was a human heater.
Frustrated, Zachary reached for the buttons of her pajamas but gave up after managing just one.
He gazed at the sleeping beauty before leaning in to kiss her lips. In the end, he resigned himself to letting her snuggle against him, mentally repeating, ‘I am in control of my body. I can manage without!’
Once he received her consent, Zachary planned to fully embrace the moment and keep her in bed for three days!
As drowsiness began to overtake him, Zachary drifted off to sleep with that thought in mind.
Unbeknownst to the couple, someone pressed their ear against the bedroom door, straining to catch any sounds from within.
It was, of course, Grandma May.
“Well?”
Mrs. Lane broke the silence. Although she kept her voice low, Grandma May was still startled.
Startled by Grandma May’s sudden reaction, Mrs. Lane took a step back in fear.
Grandma May looked at Mrs. Lane, patting her chest as she softly scolded, “Cecilia, why did you appear without a sound? You gave me quite a scare.”
Mrs. Lane replied, “I thought you noticed me.”
Grandma May was so engrossed in her eavesdropping that she hadn’t noticed anything else.

As she entered her grandson’s room, Grandma May noticed that Mrs. Lane had just emerged from her own.

“Go, go, go!” Grandma May urged Mrs. Lane to leave. “I can’t hear anything. Zack’s room must be soundproof. I strained to listen but couldn’t catch a thing.”

“Is it possible that nothing happened between Mr. Zachary and the missus, which is why you didn’t hear anything?” Mrs. Lane queried.

Grandma May was left speechless. Considering her grandson’s nature, she replied with disappointment, “What a waste of my acting skills. Tonight was the perfect opportunity, yet the brat didn’t seize it. Sigh. Why does my grandson have to be so unromantic and clueless?”

Serenity would be shopping for a bed at dawn, making it difficult for Grandma May to entice her into Zachary’s room.

“Old Mrs. York, you can’t rush this. You know how Mr. Zachary can be. Besides, they aren’t in love yet. They’ll consummate the marriage when the time is right, without your interference.”

“I just feel anxious for them,” Grandma May confessed.

“Good things come to those who wait,” Mrs. Lane advised.

Grandma May responded, “…Cecilia, you’re quite honest, aren’t you?”

Feeling defeated, Grandma May left Mrs. Lane and retreated to her room.

Mrs. Lane mumbled to herself, “I’m an honest woman, so of course, I speak the truth.”

She glanced at Mr. Zachary’s room, reflecting on the progress made by allowing the missus into his bedroom.

Building a relationship takes time; there are no shortcuts or easy ways around it.

Mrs. Lane believed that Old Mrs. York was unnecessarily worked up. It often took time for Mr. Zachary to connect with anyone, so rushing was pointless.

Returning to her room, Mrs. Lane drifted off to sleep and dreamt about the missus.

After giving birth to a baby girl, Old Mrs. York was overjoyed and rewarded the mother with five hundred million dollars, which left her in shock.
