Married at First Sight Chapter 404

Chapter 404
Josh waited for Zachary at the entrance of the office building, his bright smile greeting him as he arrived.
“I thought you weren’t coming to the office today,” Josh said, following Zachary inside while the bodyguards remained at the entrance.
“If I don’t come in and ask you to run the meeting, you’ll just complain about how much you owe me from a past life, claiming you’re enslaved to me now.”
“You’re quite self-aware, realizing you’ve been enslaving me all this time, huh?” Zachary replied, glancing back at him. “I’m merely providing a stage for you to shine. Without me, would you capture the attention of your patriarch?”
The younger generation of the Bucham family could hold their own against the York family.
Josh distinguished himself among the Bucham family’s youth due to his skills, his friendship with Zachary, and his senior position at York Corporation.
As the most cherished nephew of the Bucham family’s patriarch, he held a prominent status within the family. However, Josh had no desire to become the next patriarch and shared a close bond with the patriarch’s son, resembling biological brothers.
Josh chuckled. “You’re just grooming me to be your chief of intelligence. Conveniently, I have a knack for gossip, and the private matters you ask me to investigate are all juicy tidbits. If I ever find myself short on cash, I could easily make a fortune by selling one of your personal stories to the paparazzi.”
The two men stepped into the elevator together.
Zachary shot back, “You’ll only be low on funds if you transfer all your assets to me. Otherwise, you’ll never lack money.”
While Josh had a penchant for gossip and drama, he was also dependable and discreet. Otherwise,

Zachary could never trust Josh to this degree. Clive Stone made numerous attempts to lure Josh away, but he was unsuccessful each time. Many people tried to get Josh drunk, hoping he would reveal the York family’s internal secrets, but they also failed.

“You have so much money that you could never spend it all in your lifetime, yet you still want me to transfer mine to you? By the way, did you enjoy catching that scandalous pair last night?” Josh asked openly since they were alone in the elevator.

“And why didn’t you ask me to help? I was dreaming about it all night!” For those who loved gossip, it was incredibly frustrating not to witness the drama firsthand.

“It’s at the Stone Group’s hotel. You’d just draw unnecessary attention if you went, and you might even end up in today’s headlines,” Zachary replied.

Josh reluctantly said, “As if no one would recognize you if you went…”

“I wore makeup,” Zachary countered. Josh was momentarily speechless; he hadn’t considered that.

“Was there a fight?” he finally asked.

“Yep.”

“Was it entertaining?”

Zachary glanced at him again. Seeing the eagerness on Josh’s face, he smiled and said, “Yeah. My sister-in-law was quite the actress, and her fighting skills can rival my Serenity’s.”

“Wow, so she’s become YOUR Serenity, huh?” Josh seized on the key phrase.

“Otherwise, could she belong to you?” Zachary replied.

Josh quickly responded, “I wouldn’t dare claim her. Your wife is exceptional at fighting.”

“She practiced kickboxing.”

Josh praised her, “Wow, brawn and brains! Zack, you definitely found a treasure. Grandma May introduced such a wonderful woman to you only because you’re her grandson. Back then, you looked like the Grim Reaper at work every day when Grandma May nagged you about…”

am looking forward to marrying Serenity.”

“I’m also quite capable, but Grandma May never thought to introduce me to such a strong and intelligent girl. By the way, does Jasmine know how to fight?” Zachary looked at Josh in disbelief.

Josh awkwardly touched his nose and remarked, “I’m suddenly excited about my blind date with Ms. Sox.”

“I’ll arrange for you two to meet this Saturday afternoon. You can choose the location and let me know once you’ve made a reservation. Then, I’ll have Serenity inform Ms. Sox.”

“That’s the day after tomorrow! Zack, look at me! Do I look presentable? Do I have any acne? Is my beard too long?”

The elevator arrived at the top floor. Zachary waited for the doors to open before stepping out, leaving behind Josh, who was practically strutting like a peacock.

Josh hurried after him.

“Mr. York, Mr. Bucham,” Mr. Chaplin greeted them as he stood.

Both men nodded in acknowledgment of Mr. Chaplin’s greeting.

Once inside Zachary’s office, Zachary pointed to the door of his lounge and said, “There’s a mirror in the lounge; you can go take a look.”

Josh pulled out a chair and sat down at the desk. With a grin, he said, “I’m confident in my appearance. Ms. Sox will fall for me at first sight.”

“Serenity sees me every day and still hasn’t fallen for me. Jasmine Sox is her best friend, and they share similar tastes and temperaments.”

Josh retorted, “Don’t rain on my parade! You’re a terrible matchmaker. You should be singing Jasmine’s praises.”

“How can I praise her if she’s so unique?”

Josh opened his mouth to argue but found himself at a loss. After a pause, he said, “Zachary, you’re either mute or incredibly sharp-tongued. I really…

of making the situation worse.

“I don’t know what to do with you,” she said.

“Anyway, make sure someone is keeping an eye on Hank Brown and his family, as well as Jessica Yates and hers. He asked my sister-in-law for a divorce. That scumbag will definitely pull something before the divorce is finalized.”

“Don’t worry. I’ve always had someone watching them,” came the response.

“Then why are you just sitting here?”

“Is there nothing else to discuss?”

Josh felt that the news he had received was insufficient to quench his thirst for gossip. Zachary had the urge to pick him up and throw him out the window.

Noticing Zachary had ceased speaking, Josh smiled and said, “Alright, let’s talk about work. Would you like a cup of coffee?”

“I just had coffee,” Zachary replied.

“Right… You’re a married man, so your wife can take care of you. You don’t have to worry about starving or being thirsty.”

Josh, accustomed to being single, suddenly found himself wishing to marry a woman he liked so he could experience the life of a married man as well.

After their conversation about work concluded, Josh left Zachary’s office.

Zachary glanced at the time and realized he had a meeting scheduled in ten minutes. He decided to use the spare time to call Duncan.

Duncan answered the phone with a hearty laugh, “Zachary, to what do I owe the pleasure?”

“I need to ask you for a favor,” Zachary said.

“Is it about your sister-in-law? I hired her because of you the day she came in for the interview, and now everyone is speculating about our relationship. She’s been ostracized by her colleagues in the office. If you want me to intervene again, I fear she might quit because she’ll feel even more excluded.”

As the CEO of Lewis & Co., Duncan was a respected figure within the company and was fully aware of Liberty’s struggles at work. He refrained from stepping in again, fearing it would only worsen her situation.

She would face more challenges in the office.
“How long is her probation?”
“Three months.”
Zachary was at a loss for words.
