Chapter 354
Zachary remarked, “I have always admired Mr. Young–Johnson and was hoping for a chance to meet him. You’ve made that possible.”
Remy smiled in response. “My eldest brother has also held you in high regard for some time, Mr. York.”
They exchanged niceties.
Remy had come to Zachary’s office to deliver his brother’s wedding invitation. Since his task was complete, he didn’t linger, stating, “Mr. York, Mr. Bucham, I have other commitments, so I’ll be on my way now. If you’re free this evening, we could have dinner together. It’s my treat.”
Josh smiled. “I’m available anytime, but Mr. York might be busy.”
Zachary interjected, “I’ll take you out for dinner another time, Mr. Johnson.”
Zachary had plans with his wife for the evening.
Remy nodded. “Alright then. I’ll await your call.”
He stood up.
Zachary and Josh both rose and accompanied Remy out of the office.
“Mr. York, Mr. Bucham, there’s no need to see me off,” Remy said as he paused at the office door, encouraging the two men to stay.
Zachary and Josh stood by the door, watching as Remy departed with his bodyguards.
Once Remy was out of sight, Josh nudged his friend and probed for gossip. “So, what are your plans for tonight? You’ve offloaded all your social obligations onto me, yet you didn’t even want to join Mr. Johnson for dinner.”
“Zachary, it feels as if I must have owed you a great deal in a past life, which is why I’m compelled to be at your service in this one. I’m like a loyal dog, always ready to assist you.”
Zachary turned and walked back inside.
“You can truly appreciate your worth when you’re with me. I’ve given you a platform to shine,” he said.
Josh chuckled and closed the door.
“Are you going on a date with your wife?”
“Yes. Are you hoping to be a third wheel, or are you feeling jealous? Would you like me to set up a blind date for you so you can experience love at first sight too?”
Josh quickly replied, “I’m quite tactful, so I won’t be your third wheel. Although I’d love to join, I’ll step back this time for your happiness.”
“Well, I’m not jealous. You don’t even seem that happy right now, and earlier, you were torturing everyone in the office with your stone-faced demeanor.”
Josh, sitting across from his friend, smiled and said, “Even if I wanted to get married, would you really be able to set me up on a blind date? Your grandma had to push you into an impulsive marriage. How many unmarried young women do you actually know?”
Zachary rolled his eyes at Josh. “I happen to know an unmarried young woman. From what I’ve seen, she’s quite nice and comes from a good family. They’re wealthy, she’s righteous, loyal, and most importantly, she’s pretty. She would be a great match for you.”
Josh raised an eyebrow in curiosity. “Who?”
“My wife’s best friend, Jasmine Sox.”
Josh responded, “Oh, her…”
He appeared hesitant.
Zachary, puzzled, asked, “What’s with that expression?”
“You wouldn’t know since you don’t attend parties. Last time at Mrs. Dawson’s birthday party, Jasmine Sox drank too much and ended up sleeping on the floor. Everyone was shocked.”
