Elisa stood frozen, her face draining of color as the implications of Zachary’s actions became clear. She was no fool; there was no way she could misunderstand what was happening.
“Drive!” Zachary commanded in a low tone.
The driver promptly started the car, bypassing Elisa as they entered the building. Elisa felt immobilized, as if turned to stone.
Zachary was not rejecting her; rather, he intended to discard the bouquet and the breakfast she had lovingly prepared for him, tossing them into the trash right in front of her.
To make matters worse, he was wearing a wedding ring!
Elisa had harbored feelings for him for years and knew that he had always kept his hands bare, never donning any jewelry. Now, he sported a ring on his ring finger. Was he indicating that he was married?
She hadn’t heard any news about his marriage. Was it possible he chose to keep it secret to protect his wife?
Considering his status, anyone would envy her, and no one would dare harm her. Was it truly necessary to conceal the marriage for her protection?
Or had he intentionally bought a ring and put it on his ring finger to deceive her?
Regardless, Elisa felt compelled to uncover the truth.
If Zachary was indeed married, pursuing him further would make her the unwelcome third party in their relationship. There were others who would be willing to marry her; even if she was infatuated with Zachary, she refused to interfere in someone else’s marriage.
There were plenty of other options available.
She would never take another woman’s man! With that determination, Elisa dashed to her sports car and sped away from York Corporation.
She didn’t consult her love advisor, knowing it would be futile. Instead, she needed to find her brother and plead with him to help her investigate whether Zachary was truly married.
married.
