Serenity and Zachary needed to wait for the Hunts to make a reckless move and commit a crime before they could send them to jail.
“Do they have any vices?”
“They gamble. Almost all the seniors in town do. It’s their favorite pastime after lunch. I’m not sure if my uncles gamble, but I assume they probably have taken up the habit.”
Zachary’s dark eyes sparkled as a plan began to form in his mind. He kept his thoughts to himself and told Serenity, “Leave this to me. Don’t waste your time on them. I’ll support you through thick and thin. Just focus on what you want to do.”
“Are you sure you don’t want me to accompany you to the event tonight? We’ve never attended a party together as a couple, honey.”
Serenity looked at him skeptically. “You’re the great Mr. York. Your security detail will be all over you at social events. A lowly peasant like me wouldn’t be able to get close enough to see your face.”

Serenity playfully bit his lip. “Take care of yourself. If you starve yourself again, you’re on your own. If anything happens to you… I’ll inherit your assets and use your money to get myself a boy toy. That would show you.”

“Dead.” Zachary stood up and embraced her, gently saying, “Seren, I’ll take care of my health so we can grow old together. Everything will be fine as long as you don’t leave me.”
As he withdrew his hands from her, Serenity lifted the packed food. “Please send Jim to collect dinner. It’s time for you to return to work. I’m heading back to the shop; Elisa might already be waiting for me.”
Reluctantly, Zachary walked her to the office exit, where he watched her drive away. The security guards on duty exchanged glances, wondering if things were looking up for Mr. York and his wife.
A few minutes later, Zachary turned back and strolled into the office building. One security guard took the initiative to observe Zachary’s expression.
Hmm. With that smile on his face, he must be in a good mood. The couple had reconciled, allowing the employees of York Corporation to breathe easier. They could only hope that the couple would continue to be loving; another fight would be too much to bear.
