Married at First Sight Chapter 852

Chapter 852
“Mom.”
If Zachary did not clarify things, his mother might actually set him up on a blind date, leading to misunderstandings.
He spoke softly, “When I said Serenity left with her sister, I meant she went back briefly to gather her thoughts. She’s not leaving for good, and I won’t permit her to stay away.”
God knew how hard it was for him to let her go, even temporarily, to follow her sister home.
“I also need some time to collect myself, but it’s challenging for me. That’s why I want to jump into the pool for a swim. It might help me cool off. I’m not trying to harm myself to get her attention.”
Tania blinked in surprise and asked, “You’re not divorced yet?”
“Do you want me to get a divorce?”
“Yes and no. I’ve always felt that you two aren’t compatible. Your social circles are completely different, making it difficult for Serenity to fit in. You might not realize it now since you get along well initially, but you’ll understand once you take Serenity out to socialize, discuss business, and attend various parties, fundraisers, and other events.
“You might manage as long as you’re thick-skinned and don’t mind being laughed at, but Serenity will have an even tougher time. Not even the wives of the nouveau riche can break into the high-society circle, let alone Serenity. She would likely face ostracism, ridicule, and mockery.
Tania had spent her life in a wealthy family, usually befriending noblewomen of similar status. She would acknowledge ladies of lower status with a nod but could not accept them into her inner circle.
Not many people could remain as grounded as Grandma May.
“However, you’ve fallen in love with her, so I don’t—”

“I want you to get a divorce. I’m worried that if you do, you’ll remain a bachelor for life. No mother wishes for her son to be single forever, especially not such an exceptional brat… I mean man.” Tania quickly corrected her choice of words when her son gave her a sullen look. It was likely because she had been spending too much time with her mother-in-law lately. The old lady had a negative influence on her.

“You two have been married for almost five months now, but there’s still no baby. If you had one, you could continue being a bachelor. We could rest easy knowing you’d have a child to take care of you when we’re gone. But since you don’t have a child yet…”

“Zack, have you two gone to the hospital for a health check?”

“We’re capable of having a child, Mom,” Zachary asserted, emphasizing that he was in excellent health.

“Serenity is also very healthy. We’re really just a couple in name. How could we possibly have a child?”

Tania was taken aback.

“I’m fine, Mom. Go play chess with Dad. I’ll swim to clear my mind. I won’t hurt myself.”

Zachary disregarded his mother’s protests, stripped off his clothes, and jumped into the pool.

Once submerged, he thought, Goodness, it’s freezing!

“Zack, Zack! You never listen!” Tania called out, scolding him. She shouted toward the house, “Mom, Mom! Your darling grandson jumped into the pool!”

Zachary sputtered and choked on a mouthful of water. His elegant mother must have been influenced by his grandmother.

The distance was considerable, and Grandma May was lying in her room, pretending to be sick, so she couldn’t hear them.

When Tania realized her shouting was futile even after two attempts, she left her son behind and hurried into the house. Unable to convince her son, she decided to enlist Grandma May’s help.

She stepped in. She believed her son was attempting to get sick in order to upset her daughter-in-law. When Grandma May learned that Zack had jumped into the outdoor pool despite the cold weather, she could no longer pretend to be ill. She sprang out of bed, put on a jacket, and told her daughter-in-law, “I’ll call him back. That little brat.”

Chapter 852

“Even if he wants me to feel guilty and blame myself, he doesn’t need to jump into the pool on a cold day.” Tania thought, ‘So this is a matter between grandmother and grandson?’
