BUHLE : THE MOUNT QUEEN.
000
-the thunder roared and the sky was filled with lightning, i got up from my bed and ran to my parent’s room i barged in without knocking while holding lulu on my left arm i walked to the bed but there was no one. “Mama?” I whispered but no one answered the thunder roared so loudly that i jumped and screamed crawling under my parent’s bed. I held lulu tight and closed my eyes as my heartbeat was fast, my hands shaking, my eyes filled with tears because I didn’t know where my parent’s were. The next moment i heard footsteps slowly coming from the door, I opened my eyes and crawled out of the bed then went to the door to opening hoping it was my parents.
“Princess?” A man’s voice said at the door and I knew it wasn’t my father nor my brother’s voice, it was someone else.
-I stepped back from the door squeezing lulu into my arms, my heart pounding then the door slowly opened and I quickly closed my eyes preparing for whatever is going to happen to me then a hand touched my shoulder and I couldn’t help but scream my lungs out.
“Ndalo sh, it’s me” he said trying to shake me so that I can open my eyes, I refused to open them because I thought it might be a thief breaking in my home but I eventually opened my eyes and met with unathi’s face.
“Unathi? Where is mama and papa” I asked concerned, unathi was my father’s right hand man as he was the king of the Inkala lands.
“I think it’s best if I take you to a more safer place” he said dodging my question.
“I’m not leaving without my parents? Where are they? and what is going on?” I asked frustrated, he looked down davistated before answering me.
“The Gods buhle! The Gods are angry and if we don’t get out of here we might drown in the floods” he said in a serious tone.
“Angry? but why? and why are my parents not here?” I asked.
“Your parents are the protectors of this mountain and people so it’s their duty to get the people to safety and calm the gods” he said trying to convince me.
“But what about my parents and brother?” I said my eyes filled with tears, he sighed and kneed down then held both my little hands.
“Listen we really need to go, we will meet your parents and brother halfway and it is my duty to protect you princess. Please you are still young to understand what is going on, I’ll explain to you when your older” he said getting my hair, I nodded then he took my hand and we ran out of the house.
-We got into the car and it drove off, the village was filled with people running for their lives and buses filled with people then the mountain above us started shaking as the heavy rain dropped. I was scared it was too much for a 6 year old girl like me but it was happening, were the gods really angry? My eyes searched for my family through the crowd and i saw both of them escorting people to transports.
“Stop the car” I said.
“No princess we can’t” he said driving in high speed.
“Stop it! I want my mama and papa” I said screaming and kicking.
“I’m sorry princess but I promised them to get you out of here along with those other people and they promised to come after” he uttered his eyes focusing on the road.
-I cried looking outside the car window and the lightning kept striking every household in my village, house were burnt down and people were running for their lives the water was starting to overflow the place, throught that crowd my parents smiled holding each other’s hand looking in my direction it was like they saw me but I tried waving but they only looked and smiled that’s when I knew it was their time, the car ran in high speed while I was screaming because I was living my parents behind. In my mind kept playing “the gods killed your parents”.
–
And that is how i lost my parents and my village then became a queen and a protector at the age of twelve, I’m Buhlebendalo Mgabadeli daughter of king and queen mgabadeli of the Inkala lands. I’m a princess but now I’m the queen and protector of our new land and my village but in all of that my life has been nothing but paying respect to the gods of Inkala lands and my late parents, my brother survived but he was in no condition to lead that’s why they gave that responsibility to me even though I was young. Till this day I never knew what my parents did wrong to the gods that made them angry that they almost killed all of our people and destroyed all the Inkala land which was built by our ancestors, now we live in a new village but i want to bring back inkala land and make my parent’s souls rest in peace as their ashes still lie in that soil of Inkala land and I want to get to the bottom of the truth as to why they were angry.
Join me as I unveil various of secrets hidden underneath the love and soil of my village and people.
