_KAGOENTLE NDWANDWE _
After talking with Nhlanzeko I felt so much better, I thought maybe he wouldn’t allow me to go and study or even work. Now we watching a movie on his laptop, with some snacks he went to fetch at the main house.
“Maybe we should share a bedroom”, I looked at him shocked, a bed? “I’m joking”, he said then chuckled.
For the hours that I spent with him I noticed he just chuckle and smile only, I never heard his laughter.
I guess it must be beautiful, coz he is also handsome with handsome hands and feet. A knock disturbed me as I’m about to say something,
“come in”, he shouted to the person. The door open, Alondwe walked in with a grin on her face,
“wellll sis Kago they want you in the house”.
I raised my eyebrows looking at her, she just shrugged then walked out. Nhlanzeko looked at me,
“this doesn’t sound good at all, come let’s go”. He took my hand then we walked out of his bedroom.
And ohh I noticed that his love language is physical touch. We walked in the main house, we got to the sitting room. Well it looks like some kind of meeting, who are they holding a meeting for? We both sat down on the same couch, Spitfire kept giving me death grances.
“Makoti ngyacabanga uyazibuza kungani sikubize lapha”, Mr Ndwandwe said, I nodded slowly.
“Ever since we had daughter in laws, akekho omakoti abakebeyisa omamezala ngisho yena u MaShandu uqobolwakhe”.
Okay now I see where this is going, let wait and see,
“my child you are very beautiful, smart but I never thought you could be disrespectful, I don’t want to believe that perhaps what you said to MaShandu is because of something she also said naye”, MaCele said.
“Uhhm with all due respect what did I say to MaShandu?”, coz damn I’m also shocked. “uMaShandu Lana mntanami uthi umthukile Wena, ingabe kuyiqiniso lelo?”
“Ayiboh Zwide umbuza njani? Uzovele aqambe amanga Lana”, the second son of MaShandu said.
“Cha baba”, someone clapped their hands, it was Spitfire, she is now standing on her feet.
“Ohhh so I’m a liar mina ntombazane? Yinto oyishoyo leyo, I’ll make your life a living hell awungazi Kahle Wena”, she clicked her tongue then walked upstairs.
“I know my mother is not lying, you swore on her Wena you might buy people with your innoc….”, he couldn’t finish his sentence as Nhlanzeko cut him short.
“PHIWAYINKOSI!!! Not on my wife bafo, nxn”, he made me to stand up, we walked out of the house.
I thought we were going to his room but I saw us walking to his car, “where are we going?”, he unlocked the car, “somewhere far from this household “. He opened the door for me to enter, I got in then he jogged to his side after closing my door, he got in. “Fasten your seatbelt”, he is very angry, I can hear it in his voice. I did as told, he brought the ignition to life then drove out of the house.
The tension in the air was palpable as we drove away from the house, the silence between us thick and heavy. Nhlanzeko’s grip on the steering wheel was tight, his knuckles white with anger. I sneaked a glance at him, his jaw clenched, his eyes fixed on the road ahead. I felt a shiver run down my spine, not out of fear, but out of uncertainty.
We drove for what felt like hours, the rolling hills and sugarcane fields of KwaZulu Natal whipping past us. The only sound was the soft hum of the engine and the occasional chirp of a cricket in the distance. I didn’t dare break the silence, unsure of what to say or do.
Finally, we pulled up to a quiet spot overlooking a lake, the water reflecting the sunset like a sheet of silver. Nhlanzeko turned off the engine, and we sat there, the silence between us almost deafening.
“Are you okay?” he asked, his voice low and gentle, a stark contrast to the anger that had been radiating from him earlier.
I nodded, feeling a lump form in my throat. “Yeah, I’m fine.”
He turned to face me, his eyes searching mine. “What really happened MaRalehlahle?”
I looked away, feeling a mix of emotions. “uMaShandu is always on my nerves Ndwandwe, and no i didn’t insult her” I sighed it already late, the sun is setting. Nhlanze got out of the car, I slowly followed him. He sat down, put his feet inside the water, when did he took off his shoes? I took of my slippers when a phone chimned indicating a message, I looked at it, it from my friend.
“You won’t believe what I just saw with my two naked eyes”. As I’m about to answer her, a picture followed, I looked at the picture. Ohhh My God!!! I cover my mouth with my hand as I’m looking at them kissing, another text followed after the picture, “isn’t that your step sister…. Luminjalo?”. I felt tears right at the edge of my eyes.
