Mr. Lincoln
The name sent a jolt of shock through Rigby. His eyes followed Kenric’s gaze and landed on the man by the stairs,
He was tall and powerfully built, with features so sharp they looked as if they’d been carved from stone. An aura of immense power radiated from him, an almost palpable pressure that made him seem like the master of all he surveyed. But it was the chilling, innate fury in his eyes that was most arresting a simmering fire that seemed ready to burn Rigby to ash.
Rigby’s heart pounded in his chest. He recognized him instantly: Lucius Lincoln, heir to the Lincoln family fortune.
What was he doing here? And by the looks of it, he had come specifically for him.
Rigby’s mind raced, but he couldn’t imagine any reason for this confrontation.
The two thugs yanked the door fully open, and Rigby stumbled back into the apartment. A phalanx of Lucius’s bodyguards flooded in, lining the walls on either side.
Only then did Lucius step inside, his gaze locking onto Rigby with glacial intensity.
Rigby felt a chill creep down his spine, but he forced himself not to look away.
Kenric sidled up to Lucius, his voice dripping with sycophantic glee. “Mr. Lincoln, I assume you’re here because this punk got cast in ‘Heaven’s Will‘ by Starlight Media. You don’t need to dirty your own hands with him. Allow me the pleasure of beating him to a pulp and destroying that pretty face of his.”
If he played his cards right, he might just win Mr. Lincoln’s favor.
Lucius’s eyes remained fixed on Rigby, a cruel sneer twisting his lips.
“That’s precisely why I brought you here,” he said, his voice like chipping ice. “Did you think I needed you to give me directions?”
A thrill of malicious delight shot through Kenric.
“Don’t you worry, Mr. Lincoln!” he gushed. “I’ll make sure you’re more than satisfied!”
Rigby’s stomach dropped. “This is breaking and entering!” he shouted, his voice strained. “It’s illegal! I’m warning you, get out now, or I’m calling the police!”
Lucius merely stared at him, the coldness in his eyes deepening. This penniless nobody had the audacity to threaten him with the police?
Kenric burst out laughing. “The police? Seriously? You think you’ll get the chance? Don’t forget about the old man lying in that bed. You don’t want him to live? I’ll kill him long

before any cops show up.”
At the mention of Sire, Rigby’s hands balled into fists, and he fell silent.
“I heard Starlight Media cast you in ‘Heaven’s Will‘,” Kenric continued, his voice dripping with mockery. “What do you think they’ll do when they see your face after I’m done with
it?”
“You wouldn’t dare!” Rigby seethed.
“Wouldn’t I?” Kenric shot back. “You’re just a piece of trash someone picked up from a junkyard. The only reason you ever had a shot in this business is that face. I was generous enough to make you the lead in my fm, and how did you repay me? You didn’t just turn me down, you assaulted me!”
“That’s because you were trying to force yourself on the lead actress!” Rigby retorted, his eyes blazing with contempt. “An animal like you deserved to be hit!”
Kenric spat on the floor. “Look at you, still playing the hero, just like in some stupid movie.”
He gestured to the guards. “Grab him.”
Though Sire had taught him how to defend himself, Rigby was no match for a dozen professional bodyguards. He was overpowered and restrained in seconds.
