Chapter 561
At Trudy’s question, Lucius gathered the documents on the table and leaned back into his leather chair. “Thanks to you, I’ve uncovered a very valuable piece of information.”
Trudy sounded confused on the other end. “I’m afraid I don’t understand, Mr. Lincoln.”
An irrepressible excitement gleamed in Lucius’s eyes. “You don’t need to. Just collect your reward. A ten–million–dollar bonus will be wired to your account tomorrow. As for the person who killed your mother, don’t worry. I’ll find them for you soon enough.”
The news that the little bastard Trudy was hunting was actually Haskell’s younger brother was worth far more than ten million to Lucius. If he could find the boy before Haskell did, he could finally crush Haskell under his heel and become the undisputed king of Regal City.
“Alright. I trust you’ll find him, Mr. Lincoln. I’ll continue to do my best for you.”
After Lucius hung up, Livia set a lunch box on the table and sat beside him. She leaned in, wrapping an arm around his and asking curiously, “Who was that, Lucius? You seem to be in a great mood today.”
Lucius tossed his phone aside and turned to stare at her. “A woman. What, are you going to get jealous and go after her like you did with Honora?”
The mention of Honora put Livia on high alert. Larissa had told her that Lucius had already found Honora, which meant Honora must have told him how she’d helped Larissa.
Lucius was onto her. Knowing his personality, he wouldn’t have let her off the hook for such a betrayal. Yet he hadn’t exposed her, which meant she still had some use to him.
Larissa had already told her to stand down and just protect herself, but could she really do that by doing nothing? Could she just watch her father’s illegitimate son inherit the company while she was married off to Lucius like a pawn?
No. She had to dispel his suspicions, right now.
“Are you
still angry that I let Honora go?” Livia asked, her expression a mask of innocence as she gently shook his arm. “I only did it because I care about you so much.”
Seeing his cold expression remained unchanged, she pressed on. “You know how it was. Honora was always one step ahead of me, hailed as Regal City’s most talented woman while I was always second best. You can understand that feeling, can’t you? When I heard you were keeping a mistress tucked away, and that it was Honora–the one who wasn’t even in show business but was always plastering the tabloids with stories to outshine me–how could I not be furious?”
At this, Lucius’s face darkened.
It was true. He had initially noticed Livia because of her title as the “second goddess of

When he teamed that Zoltan Palmer intended to arrange an engagement between Haskell and Honera, he’d sought out Livia as a competitive move. He refused to believe that second place was a permanent position. He had poured resources into her career, determined to make her a bigger star than Honora. His fan de had to outshine Flaskell’s.
And now, the fiancée he had so carefully chosen was betraying him, collaborating with Larissa, a woman who had crossed the Lincoln family
“Lucius, I really did it because I wanted you all to myself. That’s why I defied you. Having laid the groundwork, Livia moved to her main point. “There’s something I’ve been hiding from you. I was afraid you’d be angry if you knew, but if I don’t tell you now, I’m scared you’ll misunderstand me.”
Lucius frowned but said nothing.
Livia continued, “Larissa was the one who told me you were hiding Honora. I know she’s an enemy of yours and the entire Lincoln family, so I decided to gain her trust and find an opportunity to take her down for you. I pretended to cooperate with her and let Honora go.”
