After a long silence, he finally spoke. “I understand. I’ll go to Starlight Media this afternoon to terminate my contract. I’m signing with Gale Entertainment.”
Magnus nodded, his goal achieved. “Excellent. I’ll have the contract drawn up immediately. We’re ready for you whenever you are.”
His voice was laced with confident anticipation.
That afternoon, just as Larissa finished recording the final track in the studio, Ursa rushed over, her expression grave. “Ms. Judson, Leopold is here again. He wanted to wait in your office, but I thought it best to have him wait in the reception lounge instead.”
“I see,” Larissa nodded, knowing exactly what he had come to discuss.
She took the glass of warm water Ursa offered, drank half of it, and then made her way to the lounge. The moment she entered, Leopold’s gaze shot up to meet hers, his eyes filled with a desperate urgency.
Larissa settled onto the sofa opposite him, her face a cool, impassive mask.
“Larissa,” he began, his voice strained, “I didn’t think we could sort this out over text, so I came in person.”
She said nothing, merely waiting for him to continue.
“Have you really decided you’ll never forgive me? Are you determined to just let my die?” he asked, his brow furrowed with anxiety.

Larissa ignored his question, her own voice sharp and direct. “So all the slander against me and the company online was your doing, wasn’t it? A ploy to force my hand and make me pour company resources into promoting you?”
“It wasn’t me!” he blurted out, but the denial sounded weak even to his own ears. He knew their relationship was so fractured that she would never believe him.
As expected, Larissa replied coolly, “Whether you orchestrated it or not, you’re undoubtedly connected to it.”

A bitter smile twisted Leopold’s lips. Her resolve was absolute; nothing he could say would change her mind.
