Wings of Broken Time by Alina Das 505
Chapter 505
Seeing that he had Leopold’s attention, Magnus pressed on. “If you become more powerful than your sister, she’ll eventually see the immense value you can bring her. Then you won’t have to chase her; she’ll come to you, desperate to make amends.”
Leopold’s hands clenched into fists. “What are you getting at?”
Magnus snatched the sheet music from his hand. “She won’t promote you, but we will at Gale Entertainment. Leopold, you’re too talented to be buried at Starlight Media. You need to strike while the iron is hot. The entertainment industry moves at lightning speed. If you disappear from the scene for six months, a year, you’ll be replaced by someone new.”
“And by then, when you have no fame left, you can forget about ever earning Larissa’s forgiveness.”
“Come to Gale Entertainment. We’ll make you a generation–defining artist, the brightest new star in the music world. When that happens, how could your sister possibly ignore you?”
Magnus looked down at the sheet music and shook his head with feigned regret. “Such a shame… a truly criminal waste. A song this good, left to gather dust instead of being properly promoted. If we backed you, you could be the number one artist in the music scene in less than two years!”
Leopold began to waver.
Magnus was right. If he accomplished nothing, his sister would only look down on him more. The only way to earn her respect was to become powerful.
“Think about it, Leopold,” Magnus said, handing back the sheet music along with his new business card. “If you need me, give me a call.”
After getting back in his car, Magnus glanced at Leopold, who was still standing motionless by the curb, and a smug smile spread across his face.
Heh. Winning over Leopold was turning out to be almost too easy.
Long after Magnus drove away, Leopold remained rooted to the spot, staring at the business card in his hand. Magnus’s words echoed in his mind.
The industry changed too quickly. He didn’t have time to waste. He couldn’t just disappear. He had to become a star–so famous that his sister could no longer ignore him.
But if he went to Gale Entertainment, Larissa would see it as yet another betrayal. What was he supposed to do?
Larissa already knew Magnus had been waiting outside the building, thanks to a tip from 001, who was keeping watch downstairs.
She had driven away only to circle back a few minutes later, parking across the street where she had a clear view of the entire exchange between Leopold and Magnus.
Though she couldn’t hear their conversation, she could guess what Magnus was saying. He was trying to poach Leopold from Starlight Media.

And from Leopold’s reaction, it was clear he was wavering.
And to think Leopold had the gall to promise her he’d give up everything just to earn her forgiveness.
Larissa made a bet with herself. She bet that Leopold would ultimately choose Gale Entertainment. He was just like Finley, rotten to the core and utterly untrustworthy.
She had hoped, for a fleeting moment, that he might have changed. But he was still the same.
How boring.
To think she’d actually expected something different. What a waste of a trip back.
Larissa rolled up her window and drove away, heading toward Palmer Group.
Back at Gale Entertainment, Magnus reported his meeting with Leopold to Damon. As it happened, Benedict, Lucius, and his assistant were also in the room.
Magnus stood before the table, respectfully greeting Lucius before turning to Damon. “Damon, I spoke with Leopold today. I guarantee he’ll choose to break his contract with Starlight Media and come to us.”

“How long?” Damon asked, looking up.
