Wings of Broken Time by Alina Das 501
Chapter 501
Finley spent a small fortune tracking down the director’s whereabouts, finding him recuperating at a serene resort in the south. He immediately booked a flight for the next day, planning a personal visit with a gift in hand to see the reclusive director.
Before he left, he sent a text message to his sister, Larissa.
[Larissa, I heard a lot of people jumped ship and Director Benedict signed with Gale Entertainment. Don’t worry, I’ll find an even better director for you!]
After sending the message, Finley turned off his phone.
When the plane landed, he anxiously checked his phone. As expected, there was no reply from his
sister.
He felt a pang of disappointment but quickly brushed it aside. Maybe she just thought he was all talk. Once he actually secured the legendary director, she’d have to be grateful for him saving the day.
But when Finley finally arrived at the resort, the manager had some bad news.
“Gustave’s already gone,” the manager told him. “He took a flight this morning. If you’d come yesterday, you would have caught him.”
How could this be…
“Do you know where he went?” Finley asked desperately.
“To Regal City,” the manager replied. “I think he got a call a few days ago, someone persuading him to come out of retirement for a new project. He seemed happy to accept.”
Regal City?!
Someone had beaten him to it!
Could this be Lucius Lincoln’s doing again?
No! Benedict was already poached by Gale Entertainment. He couldn’t let them snatch Gustave too!
“Can you please give me Gustave’s phone number?” Finley asked.
The resort manager shook his head. “I can’t do that. Gustave specifically instructed us not to leak any of his information while he was recovering. The only reason I’m even telling you this much is because he’s already checked out. If he were still here, we’d probably be in trouble just for talking to
you.”
“I understand. Thank you for telling me what you could.” Finley shoved the gift he’d brought into the manager’s hands, turned on his heel, and rushed back down the mountain.
He pulled out his phone, found the earliest flight back to Regal City, and booked it on the spot before hailing a cab to the airport.
At the Starlight Media reception area.

Chapter 501
“Larissa, it’s been too long!” Gustave said, sitting on the sofa and looking at her. She had changed so much, and yet, somehow, not at all. Her features had matured, but her aura was the same.
“You’re fairer than before, and taller too,” Gustave added with a smile.
Larissa was brewing coffee, and she laughed as she rinsed the cups. “Gustave, it’s been three years. since we last saw each other.”
“Don’t you start,” Gustave said with a hint of playful reproach. “You little rascal, you never came to visit. Just had someone drop off the medicine at the resort. You’re quite the busy bee, aren’t you!” “Oh, stop teasing me, Gustave,” Larissa said, not a hint of guilt in her voice. “If I wasn’t busy studying herbal medicine, how could I have kept you supplied with treatments for your recovery?”
She placed a clean coffee cup in front of him and filled it to the brim.
Gustave chuckled, lifting his cup for a sip before sighing contentedly. “True enough. If it weren’t for your medicine, we wouldn’t be seeing each other after three years–we might never have seen each other again.”
“Don’t talk like that, Gustave. After three years of rest, you look healthier than ever,” Larissa teased. “That’s all thanks to your effective remedies,” Gustave said gratefully.
Years ago, he had made a name for himself in the industry by directing a sweeping period drama. But when three years passed without a second film, the whispers began. Critics called him a one–hit wonder, suggesting he’d had a secret mentor guiding his first project.
In the fourth year, he silenced them by directing another period piece set in the same era but with a completely different style. Its quality and popularity were just as immense.
