Chapter 496
As the car approached the Judson family estate, the driver slowed to a stop and glanced back at the sleeping Larissa.
Neville raised a finger to his lips in a “shh” gesture. The driver nodded, understanding.
Neville took out his phone, silenced it, and sent a message to his wife.
[Sapphira, we’re home, but Larissa is asleep in the car. She seemed exhausted, so I didn’t want to wake her.]
A moment later, a reply came.
[Okay, I’ll have Wren keep dinner warm. Let her sleep.]
Neville put his phone away and gazed at Larissa’s peaceful face. His eyes then shifted to the evening sky, now dotted with stars. He began to wonder what kind of birthday gift would be worthy of a daughter like her.
When Larissa woke, the stars were shining brightly outside the car window. She realized they must have been parked for some time.
A glance at her phone confirmed it was nearly eight o’clock. Normally, they would have been home by seven. She had slept for an extra hour, and her father had waited for her the entire time.
“Dad, why didn’t you wake me?” she asked, sitting up and stretching.
“You said you were tired, and you looked so peaceful. I figured you needed the rest,” Neville replied.
Larissa was touched. She hadn’t expected to sleep so soundly in the car, nor for her father to wait so patiently. A warmth spread through her chest, mixed with a hint of guilt. “Mom must have been waiting for a long time.”
“Don’t worry, I let her know,” Neville assured her. “Now that you’re awake, let’s go inside. You must be
starving.”
Larissa nodded, rubbing her stomach. “I really am.”
Back at the villa, Sapphira put down her tablet and smiled. “You’re back. Your father told me you fell asleep in the car.”
Larissa went over and linked her arm through her mother’s. “Mom, if you and Dad keep spoiling me like this, I’m going to become unbearably arrogant.”
“You’re nowhere near that point yet,” Sapphira said warmly. “As the true heiress of the Judson family, you have every right to be pampered. Our only worry is that you don’t let yourself rest enough and work yourself to exhaustion.”
She then called out, “Wren, you can bring out the food now.”
“Yes, madam,” Wren replied.
Soon, a delicious–smelling spread of three dishes and a soup was placed on the table.

Larissa was ravenous. “Well, I’m digging in!” she announced, and then began to eat with gusto. Sapphira kept placing food on her plate, so much so that Larissa hardly had to serve herself. The maternal love was almost overwhelming, but Larissa soaked it all in.
After dinner, she felt re–energized enough to tend to her herb garden before heading up to her room. She showered and was scrolling through her phone in bed when she saw she had been tagged in the “Regal City Tattler” group chat. Haskell hadn’t messaged, but someone else had.
Prodigal Prince had posted a screenshot of a news headline: Renowned director Benedict has officially signed with Gale Entertainment!
[I heard Finley worked his butt off to get Benedict to agree to sign with Starlight Media. But all it took was a few words from Mr. Lincoln, and Benedict dropped them for Gale Entertainment!]
[Larissa, what good is owning the rights to “Heaven’s Will” now? I seriously doubt Starlight Media has the resources to even finish filming it under your management.]
