The Throne of Thorns Novel Chapter 484

Wings of Broken Time by Alina Das 484

Chapter 484

It didn’t matter. As long as she was alive, she would make these blind, arrogant men regret ever ignoring her.

Monday morning, Larissa awoke in her large, dream–like canopy bed. She stretched languidly, and before her feet even touched the floor, the automated curtains swished open, bathing the room in sunlight.

Sage had activated them from the remote on the nightstand. The little snake then slithered over to Larissa, nudging its head affectionately against her hand.

“Morning, Sage,” Larissa cooed, stroking its tiny head before getting out of bed. She opened a cabinet and took out some freeze–dried treats for Sage, Snowy, and Shadow.

A soft knock came at the door.

“Larissa, are you awake?” It was Sapphira.

Larissa brushed the treat dust from her hands and opened the door.

“Larissa, here are your clothes for the week. I picked them out to match your style and had them all cleaned,” Sapphira said, walking in with an armful of outfits and placing them on the bed.

“Mom, you’re too much! You don’t have to pick out my clothes every week. Come here, give me a kiss.” Larissa puckered her lips and leaned in.

Sapphira gently pushed her face away. “Stop being silly. You haven’t even brushed your teeth yet.”

Larissa feigned a pout. “You’re rejecting me! Fine, I’ll get my kiss after I brush my teeth.”

Changing the subject, Sapphira said, “Your birthday is coming up. After what happened with the dress last time, I was thinking of designing an outfit just for you. What do you think?”

“Really? That would be amazing! If you design it, Mom, it’ll be one–of–a–kind. No chance of a repeat incident!” Larissa’s face lit up with excitement.

“Then it’s settled.” Sapphira now had her hands full, between designing a dress and baking a homemade birthday cake.

Larissa grinned. “I had no idea you could design clothes.”

“I studied fashion design in college,” Sapphira explained, a faint smile playing on her lips. “Actually, that’s how your father and I met.”

“Oh? Tell me everything! I want to hear the story,” Larissa said, her interest piqued.

“Oh, that was so long ago…”

“Come on, the older the story, the better! How did you and Dad meet?”

Sapphira hesitated. “Alright, but you have to promise not to tease your father about it.”

Tease him? That made Larissa even more curious.

“I promise! Not a word!”

Only then did Sapphira begin. “You see your father now, so handsome and put–together. But back then, his fashion sense was… questionable, to say the least. He never paid attention to his appearance. No one at the university would have ever guessed he came from a wealthy family.” “He was in his early twenties, but he dressed like a middle–aged man in ill–fitting polo shirts, pleated trousers, and clunky dress shoes.”

Larissa tried to picture it and winced. It sounded like a major fashion crime.

Sapphira continued, “The university hosted an amateur makeover competition. I signed up and had to find a subject to transform. That’s when I approached your father and asked if he’d be willing to help

me.”

“And then?”

“I told him if I won first place, he could have all the prize money. I wouldn’t take a cent. But I never expected…” Sapphira trailed off, a faint blush coloring her impeccably maintained cheeks.

Larissa was on the edge of her seat. “What happened?”
