The Throne of Thorns Novel Chapter 471

Wings of Broken Time by Alina Das 471

Chapter 471

Chapter 471

Larissa raised an eyebrow, her expression nonchalant. “What if it was?”

Garrick stuffed his hands in his pockets, stepping closer.

“Nothing. I just wanted to tell you that your brother Finley is quite the actor. When I asked him if you put him up to it, he clenched his jaw like some kind of martyr. He wouldn’t admit it was you, even when I nearly beat him to death. Isn’t that hilarious?”

He let out a dry laugh. “What an idiot. As if that could atone for anything.”

A scornful smile touched Larissa’s lips. “You’re right, it is hilarious. I’m laughing myself to death over here. I have no idea what goes on in his head, thinking he could make up for the past with a single grand gesture.”

Garrick’s laughter faded. “I almost killed him, you know. He’s probably still lying in a hospital bed. Don’t you feel even a little bit of pity for your own brother?”

“He did everything he could to have me killed. Why should I feel sorry for him?” Larissa’s voice was devoid of emotion. “I sent him to rescue Leila precisely so you would teach him a lesson for me. My only regret is that you didn’t finish the job. If he were dead, you’d be in jail for murder. Only then would he have truly atoned, and I would have finally gotten my peace.”

Garrick’s expression hardened. “You’re a real piece of work. I wonder if Finley would regret protecting you if he heard that. I almost feel sorry for him.”

“Oh?” Larissa’s smile was sharp as a razor. “If you feel so sorry for him, perhaps I should return the favor and have you beaten half to death. It would be a fitting revenge for Finley, don’t you think?”

His face changed. “You’d have to have the ability to do that first. Be careful walking alone at night, Larissa. It would be a shame if you disappeared. Haskell would be so worried.”

He shot a final glance at Leila before turning and striding away.

Larissa scoffed. “Does he think he owns the night? He tells me to be careful, but I happen to enjoy walking in the dark. It’s the best way to draw out the ghouls and monsters so I can deal with them one by one.”

Haskell raised an eyebrow. “And I suppose I’ll be there to hold the lantern and cheer you on?”

His comment made her laugh. “Of course.”

The remaining company representatives, seeing that Gale Entertainment had left, began to get up. But Larissa’s voice stopped them. “Lunch is on me today at Paddy’s Home. Please, order whatever you like.”

Since they were already there and it was lunchtime, most of the companies-with the exception of Sky Entertainment and Celestial Cinema-decided to stay.

“Ursa,” Larissa called out, “come here and we’ll sign the contract.”

Ursa, who was still in a daze, snapped to attention and hurried over with Leila. “Ms. Judson, about the copyright fee… are we really paying 500 million dollars?”

Chapter 4/1

[Right! Starlight did bid 500 million! Even though Larissa, as the author, refused to sell to Gale, does that mean her own company still has to pay?]

[Can she even afford that?]

[What does it matter? It’s just moving money from her right pocket to her left!]

[It’s not the same. It’s still a transaction!]

“Yes,” Larissa confirmed. “We’re purchasing the rights for 500 million. I will be personally injecting the funds into Starlight Media.”

The representatives who had stayed for lunch overheard and were once again stunned.

“A 500-million-dollar personal investment?! Where did she get that kind of money?”
