Leila whispered to Ursa, “This must be Field of Lari’s test for us. She wants to see whose vision aligns best with her own before deciding who gets the rights.”
Ursa nodded. “My thoughts exactly.”
“Who would like to begin?” Lenora asked the crowd.
A representative from Celestial Cinema spoke up. “Where is Field of Lari? Is she even here? Do you have the authority to make the final decision on the copyright?”
“Field of Lari is present,” Lenora explained smoothly, “but she is not ready to make a public appearance just yet.’
“I’ll go,” a representative from Sky Entertainment said, standing up. “I believe the best approach for ‘Heaven’s Will’ would be to shift some of the female lead’s more prominent storylines to the male lead. Or better yet, rewrite the protagonist as a man entirely. It would make the plot more plausible for the screen. After all, in that patriarchal era, a story centered on a man’s political maneuvering would be far more realistic.”
Upstairs, Larissa nearly crushed her coffee cup. “What did he just say? He wants to turn my heroine into a sidekick? Let’s see if any of the actors his agency represents-the ones who can’t even do a bridal carry-are worthy of that role!”
Haskell chuckled.
Larissa shot him a look.
His smile vanished instantly. “Don’t worry, Larissa. I could carry you with one hand.”
Down below, Leila stood up, her voice ringing with conviction. “The entire point of the novel is to illustrate the immense struggle of a talented woman trying to achieve her ambitions in a society that confines her to the domestic sphere. If you give her defining moments to a male character, you destroy the very core of ‘Heaven’s Will’! If you’re so determined to make a male-led epic, go buy the rights to a blockbuster from the men’s fiction charts and stop trying to butcher a masterpiece!”
She then addressed the room with newfound confidence. “Ms. Judson has stated that if Starlight Media acquires the rights, we will put every penny to good use. We will cast actors who embody the characters, not just chase celebrities for their follower counts. The adaptation will respect the source material while enriching the supporting cast. Furthermore,” she declared, her voice rising, “Ms. Judson is confident that she can make the ‘Heaven’s Will’ television series the biggest hit of all time, and the film will rank among the top ten highest-grossing movies worldwide!”
Upstairs, Larissa, who had just taken a sip of coffee, nearly choked.

Haskell looked at her, amused. “Larissa, judging by your reaction, you didn’t actually make those grand promises to your employees?”
She smirked. “I didn’t. But it’s not an exaggeration.”
“So you’re truly that confident,” he mused.
“If you don’t have the ambition to win before you even start,” she said with a smile, “then you might as well not start at all.”
Other companies presented their pitches, but they were either uninspired rehashes of Starlight’s ideas or utterly forgettable.
“That concludes the blind evaluation,” Lenora announced. “Field of Lari has heard your proposals and has formed her opinions. We will now proceed to the official bidding for the rights to ‘Heaven’s Will’.”
“Where is she?” the Sky Entertainment representative shouted. “The bidding is starting, and she still won’t show her face?”
