Fans of Field of Lari, having learned that their idol would be revealing herself at the event, had come from all over the country. They gathered outside the restaurant, holding up glowing signs that read, “FIELD OF LARI, YOU’RE THE BEST.” They couldn’t get in, but they were content to stand watch from
the entrance.
Leopold was there too.
He didn’t dare approach Larissa directly, but he couldn’t stay away. Seeing the crowd of fans cheering for his sister filled him with a swell of pride. Her popularity was easily on par with his own.
Suddenly, he overheard a conversation from three men standing nearby.
“Honestly, this Field of Lari is just an online author, but she sure acts like a big shot, holding a whole press conference just to sell the rights to one book.”
“I heard her editor handled the rights for her first three books. She never showed her face, just
collected the checks.”
“Do you think Field of Lari is a man or a woman?”
“Probably a woman. The protagonist is female.”
“I bet it’s a man. ‘Heaven’s Will‘ is published on a female–oriented site, but the political intrigue, the military strategy… only a man could write with that kind of scope. Female authors just write about romance. Their stories are so… small.”
“Good point. It’s probably a man writing for a female audience. An easy way to dominate the market.”
Leopold, who had been blending in with the fans, couldn’t take it anymore. He turned to the three men, his voice cold. “Field of Lari is a woman.”
And she was his sister.
The three men looked at him. He was wearing a baseball cap and a mask, his face obscured. “How would you know?” one of them challenged. “Do you know her?”
“I do,” Leopold said, but he didn’t reveal her name.
The men remained unconvinced.
“A female author, huh? She probably hired a ghostwriter.”
“I just don’t believe a woman could write with that kind of depth.”
“Exactly. I’ve read countless novels, and female authors just can’t write good political thrillers.”
Leopold snorted. “And you three, you’re men. Could you write a book like ‘Heaven’s Will‘?”
When they didn’t answer, he pressed on. “You’re all a bunch of nobodies, with nothing to your names, yet you’re so proud of your own gender. It’s pathetic.”
“We’re not writers!” one of them shot back. “Do you have to be a chef to review a restaurant?”
“Exactly! Who do you think you are, talking down to us like that?”

“Just another brainless fanboy.”
The old Leopold would have had them on the ground by now, but things were different. He didn’t want to cause any trouble for Larissa, so he simply dismissed them as the clowns they were and turned
away.
A few of Field of Lari’s female fans had witnessed the exchange. “Hey,” one of them whispered to her. friend, “doesn’t his voice sound a lot like that new singer, Leopold?”
“It kind of does.”
Noticing their stares, Leopold pulled the brim of his cap down lower.
Fortunately, their attention was quickly diverted.
“Wow! Is that Lucius Lincoln of Regal City?”
“It is! He’s so handsome. And the woman with him in the mask, I think that’s the superstar, Livia.”
“It looks like Mr. Lincoln is determined to get the rights to this book for his fiancée.”
