Wings of Broken Time by Alina Das 407
Chapter 407
Leopold’s knuckles turned white as he gripped his phone.
“Whether it does us any good is none of your business!” he yelled. “Let Finley go, or I’m calling the police!”
His voice was a raw threat, but Garrick was unfazed.
“Go ahead, call them,” he taunted. “Let’s see what happens first: the police arresting me, or me breaking Finley’s other leg.”
With that, he hung up, leaving Leopold listening to the dial tone, his heart pounding with a mixture of fury and fear.
He put his phone away and hailed a ride–sharing service on his phone, deciding to go back to the Caldwell estate and figure out a plan with his parents.
But as if one disaster wasn’t enough, when Leopold arrived in a panic, he was greeted by another chaotic scene. Honora was being escorted into a black seven–seater van parked at the gate.
Leopold’s heart seized. He jumped out of the car and sprinted toward them, shouting, “Where are you taking Honora?”
The men ignored him.
Before he could reach the van, someone grabbed his arm. He turned to see his mother, Vivica Caldwell, and his cousin, Chester Caldwell, standing beside him.
Chester released him, shooting him a dismissive glance. “What are you yelling about, Leopold? These are Mr. Lincoln’s men. Are you trying to stop them?”
Mr. Lincoln?
The Lincoln family hated Larissa with a vengeance. Taking Honora now could only mean one thing.
Leopold turned to his mother. “Mom, you can’t let them take her! The Lincolns are obviously up to no good. They’re going to use that vicious woman to hurt Larissa! How could you let this happen?”
Vivica looked helpless. “Leopold, I couldn’t do anything. Your cousin is right. We can’t afford to offend the Lincoln family.”
Leopold tried to push past them to pull Honora from the van, but Vivica held him back. “Leopold, please, just listen.”
Inside the van, a man’s suit jacket was draped over Honora’s shoulders. She glared out at Leopold, her eyes no longer soft and vulnerable but filled with burning resentment. “Leopold, I will never forget what your family has done to me!”

He clenched his fists. “You deserved it, Honora! You deceived us from the very beginning!” “I deserved it?” She let out a wild laugh, tears streaming from her eyes. “Larissa is your precious daughter and sister, but you never cared about her, so I just went along with it! I stole twenty years of a good life from her, so yes, maybe I deserve this. But you deserve it more! Hated by your own flesh and blood, stripped of everything by her revenge… you’re the pathetic ones!”
A bodyguard slammed the van door shut, and the vehicle sped away, leaving them in a cloud of dust.
Once the van was gone, Chester turned to Leopold, his face etched with impatience. “Aunt Vivica, you and Uncle Paxton should probably find somewhere else to stay. You’re not planning on living with us forever, are you? If you’re not embarrassed about being kicked out of your own home, we certainly are.”
“Chester, how can you say that?” Vivica protested. “This is my family home.
“It’s your family home, Aunt Vivica. Coming back for holidays is one thing,” he retorted. “But you’ve been thrown out by Kiernan. You have nowhere to live. You can’t just move in permanently. Even if my dad agreed, my mom and I won’t.”
