Chapter 399
A dark smile touched Lucius’s lips. “Since we’ve already decided to send Uncle to prison, we might as well make use of his remaining value.”
His voice was devoid of emotion, as if Jagger were a stranger, a disposable asset.
In truth, Lucius was consumed by a single, twisted obsession: proving he was better than Ha
Haskell’s excellence in every field was a constant thorn in his side, and the whispers of him being ‘second–best‘ fueled a desperate need to crush his rival.
“How?” Helena asked, her eyes narrowing as she tried to decipher his plan. “Are you suggesting we use him to hire an assassin?”
She shook her head. “Don’t forget, the only person who has ever gotten close enough to harm Haskell was his own brother, Draven, and even he failed. You know Haskell better than anyone. He is not an easy target.”
A cold, almost imperceptible smile played on Lucius’s lips. “Not an assassin. We’ll use my uncle’s… particular talents… against Larissa. It’s clear Haskell is serious about this woman. Hurting her will hurt him far more than any direct attack ever could.”
Helena didn’t press for details. She trusted her grandson’s cunning.
“The public outcry against our family is growing,” she said, her voice grim. “Tonight, I will personally escort your uncle to the police station to make his confession. We must minimize the damage. The rest is in your hands.”
At Palmer Group, the receptionist recognized Larissa immediately and greeted her with a warm smile.
“Ms. Judson.” Her eyes flickered to 001, who stood silently behind Larissa. The bodyguard was an oddity–slim, dressed in black fatigues instead of a suit, with a baseball cap pulled low over the face.
Larissa nodded to the receptionist and used the access card Haskell had given her to enter the private elevator to the top floor. As she approached the CEO’s office, the doors slid open automatically.
She instructed 001 to wait outside and stepped into the office, hearing Haskell’s voice from within.
“Continue investigating the Lincoln family’s overseas operations.”
“Yes, sir.”
Crispin turned as he heard her footsteps, gave her a brief nod, and exited the office.
“You knew I was here,” Larissa said, sinking into the plush sofa as if it were her own.
“You texted me when you left. I figured you’d be arriving around now, so I kept an eye on the security feed,” Haskell replied, guiding his wheelchair toward her.
Larissa leaned back, a lazy smile on her face. “I stopped by the Judson estate first to finalize the share transfer. I also heard the news about Jagger.”

She paused, her smile widening. “Haskell, leaking that information about the Lincolns was a bold move. Are you not afraid of the trouble it might bring? You’re already dealing with your own family members vying for the inheritance. Taking on the Lincolns at the same time might be too much, even for you.”
