The Throne of Thorns Novel Chapter 355

Wings of Broken Time by Alina Das 355

Chapter 355

Vivica’s eyes widened in fury. “How dare you speak to me like that! Have you forgotten what’s at stake?”

“Not at all,” Larissa said calmly. “You kidnapped my mother, cut off a finger wearing her wedding ring, and sent it to me to threaten me into obeying you. Is that about right?”

The Lincolns‘ eyes widened. So that was their leverage–the life of Neville’s wife.

Vivica faltered.

Was it possible Larissa didn’t care about Sapphira? The thought brought a twisted mix of pleasure and panic. On one hand, it served Sapphira right for meddling. On the other, if Larissa didn’t care,

their threat was useless.

Since Larissa had laid it all bare, Paxton saw no reason to hide it.

“So,” he said, his voice strained, “is that your answer? You don’t care if your mother lives or dies?”

He picked up his phone and dialed Gareth’s number, planning to order him to cut off another of Sapphira’s fingers.

To his shock, a phone started ringing from just outside the villa.

Before he could process it, Sapphira’s voice called out. “Paxton, it’s not that Larissa doesn’t care. It’s that I’m already safe.”

The doors opened, and Sapphira walked in, supporting a frail–looking Kiernan. Neville was right beside her.

Paxton stared, his mind reeling. Had Neville found her after stabbing him last night? No, that wasn’t right. He looked at Sapphira’s hands. All her fingers were intact. The finger he had been sent wasn’t

hers.

Larissa, seeing his confusion, pulled a wooden box from her pocket and tossed it onto the table in front of him. “Uncle Paxton, whose finger do you suppose this is?”

Paxton hung up the phone and snatched the box. He opened it, and his breath caught in his throat. The finger was thick and calloused–clearly a man’s.

He had been played. That was Gareth’s finger.

Neville turned to his own butler. “Bring him in.”

The butler dragged a bound Gareth into the room and threw him onto the floor. Gareth looked up, his eyes wide with terror.

A cold dread washed over Paxton. It was over. His plan was exposed.

Neville’s voice was like ice. “Paxton, in front of our dad, is there anything you have to say for yourself?”

The room fell silent. Kiernan’s aged face was a canvas of disappointment and rage.

“Paxton,” he demanded, his voice trembling, “did you arrange for the kidnapping of your sister–in–law?”
