The Throne of Thorns Novel Chapter 353

Wings of Broken Time by Alina Das 353

Chapter 353

Jagger puffed out his chest. “Haskell’s presence won’t change a thing. That little bitch is going to apologize to me today, one way or another.”

The repeated insult made Haskell’s eyes cloud over. “Jagger’s mouth is as foul as Helena’s,” he said coolly. “It seems the Lincoln family forgot to wash their mouths when they were laundering their reputation.”

Crispin, standing behind him, saw his master’s fingers tap lightly on the armrest of his wheelchair. He knew Haskell was already plotting how to make them pay for their words.

Helena scowled. “Watch your tongue, Palmer boy. Even your grandfather shows me respect.”

“Does he?” Larissa chimed in. “Or is he just trying to avoid the stench?”

Avril burst out laughing.

Helena’s face tightened.

“Helena, Jagger, I promise you won’t be disappointed,” Vivica interjected, trying to smooth things over. “You just wait. That girl will be on her knees begging for your forgiveness.”

With Sapphira in their hands, Larissa had no choice but to obey. Or so Vivica thought. The fact that Larissa cared more about a woman she wasn’t even related to than her own birth mother still stung.

“Helena, you needn’t worry,” Haskell said with a faint smile. “I’m not here to protect Larissa. She doesn’t need my protection. She is her own fortress.”

Lucius, who had been silently supporting his grandmother, looked at Haskell. The rumors were true, then. Haskell was deeply devoted to the Judson heiress.

Meeting Lucius’s gaze, Haskell smiled politely. “Mr. Lincoln. It’s been a while.”

Unlike Haskell, Lucius was not one for pleasantries. His default expression was a perpetual scowl, not out of coldness, but a natural–born intensity. The whispers of him being “eternal second–best” had only deepened his frown.

For once, however, Lucius managed a tight smile. “Mr. Palmer. Long time no see. I didn’t realize your legs had become so… useless.”

Avril’s friends leaned forward, their eyes wide with excitement. The two titans of Regal City were finally facing off.

Lucius’s jab didn’t faze Haskell in the slightest. He remained as calm as ever. “Yes, well, the view from the top can get lonely. It’s good to see things from a different perspective. Now that I’ve been off my feet for a while, I finally understand the view you’ve always had, Mr. Lincoln. It’s quite… unique.”

Lucius’s smile vanished. Haskell’s ability to land a blow with a smile was infuriating. It was like punching a cloud–you expended all your energy and came away with nothing but bruised knuckles. It was why Lucius had avoided him for years.

Seeing her grandson at a disadvantage, Helena stepped in. “Don’t worry. Since the boy finds it so lonely at the top, perhaps it’s time for my Lucius to see the view for himself.”
