Chapter 301
“To swallow your pride when your own daughter is bullied and call it being ‘sensible‘–that’s what truly brings shame to the family,” Sapphira retorted, her tone sharp and unforgiving.
Helena frowned. “I never knew you could be so sharp–tongued. It seems this newfound daughter of yours has had quite the influence on you.”
She glanced at Larissa, noting that while the girl’s audacious attitude was irritating, her composure was undeniably impressive. She showed not a flicker of fear, even when facing
her.
“I truly don’t understand what magic this girl from the Judson family possesses,” Helena mused aloud. “She’s managed to make half of Regal City see her in a new light.”
At that, Sapphira answered without hesitation, “It’s because Larissa is exceptional
“Hah! Exceptional?” Helena scoffed at the answer, dismissing the rumors she’d heard about the young Judson heiress. “Regal City is full of exceptional young people. What’s so special about some country girl who was just brought back from peddling herbal remedies?”
“It’s because you’re old,” Sapphira said bluntly, “and your age is clouding your judgment.”
Larissa let out a chuckle. “Mom, your words are getting more venomous by the day.”
Sapphira blushed slightly. “Well, I still have a lot to learn from you.”
Helena stared at them, speechless. Was this really the time for mutual admiration?
In all her years, Helena had never been subjected to such disrespect, especially not from two people of inferior standing. Her voice turned icy, her words dripping with sarcasm. “I saw the news about your daughter’s engagement party with Haskell Palmer last night. Although the Lincoln family wasn’t invited, it was quite the grand affair. It seems not only Haskell but also the family patriarch, Zoltan Palmer, is quite pleased with his new granddaughter–in–law…”
Before she could finish, Sapphira cut in. “That’s right. Zoltan has better judgment than you. He can see just how remarkable Larissa is.”
Helena’s face tightened. “Is that so? What a joke. All of Regal City used to praise Haskell for his brilliance, claiming the Palmers would leave us all in the dust once he took out look at him now–first crippled by his own brother, and now captivated by a little b
“And Zoltan,” she continued with disdain, “I hear his health has been poor since his suppose he’s become so muddled he’d approve of a girl like this. It seems the Palmer family’s future is truly in peril.”
Larissa shrugged, unfazed. “Helena, you don’t need to worry about the Judsons or the Palmers. I can’t speak for much else, but with me treating Grandpa Zoltan, I guarantee he’ll outlive you!

Chapter 301
“You insolent brat!” Helena shot up, enraged. “Are you wishing an early death upon me?”
Josette was stunned. She had thought Larissa was only disrespectful to the Judson elders, but now she realized her mistake. Larissa’s contempt was universal; she dared to challenge any elder who crossed her, even the matriarch of the Lincoln family.
Jagger Lincoln could no longer tolerate Larissa’s insolence toward his mother. He lunged forward verbally, snarling, “It seems you came to the Lincoln estate looking for a death wish! Fine, I’ll grant it to you today and see if that old geezer from the Judson family really dares to challenge us over it!”
He snatched an intercom from the sofa and barked into it, “Get a few men in the main now!”

Sapphira’s heart clenched. Kiernan had suggested they bring bodyguards, but insisted they weren’t necessary. If Jagger was serious about attacking them, what were they
