The Throne of Thorns Novel Chapter 253

Wings of Broken Time by Alina Das 253

Hearing Larissa’s claim, Trevor sneered, “Then by all means, show us your proof.”

Garrick, still dabbing at his bloody nose, pressed her. “What, are you a mind reader? How could you possibly know what I was thinking?”

Facing their mockery, Larissa remained unflustered. She looked Garrick straight in the eye and asked calmly, “Garrick, tell me, what gift did you plan on giving Haskell today?”

Garrick froze. His eyes darted around guiltily. After a long pause, he mumbled, “What does that have to do with anything?”

“Don’t change the subject,” Larissa pressed. “Just tell us what you were planning to give him for his engagement.”

Seeing no way out, Garrick resorted to belligerence. “Why should I tell you?”

“Because you have something to hide, don’t you?” Larissa challenged. “You were planning to give Haskell one hundred wheelchairs. Am I right?”

Garrick’s jaw dropped in shock. “How did you know?”

She and Haskell were well aware that Paxton’s family, her Aunt Josette, and the various Palmers would all be looking for ways to humiliate them. Of course they had done their

homework.

Seeing that Larissa wasn’t answering, Garrick furiously rounded on Faith and Solomon. “Did you two tell her?”

“Don’t be ridiculous, Garrick,” they shot back, annoyed. “We’ve been here the whole time. When would we have had the chance?”

Garrick’s gaze shifted to Avril. “Then it was you! I saw you on your phone earlier. Were you tipping her off?”

Avril was speechless. She just wanted to watch the show, and now she was being accused of being an accomplice. She rolled her eyes. “Garrick, stop lashing out like a cornered dog. This is the first time I’ve ever met Ms. Judson, my future cousin–in–law.”

Larissa spared Avril a quick glance before turning back to Garrick. “Your reaction tells me everything I need to know.”

She then addressed the Palmer patriarch, who was slowly descending the stairs. “Grandpa Zoltan, you be the judge. Was I just overthinking things? Today is my engagement party with Haskell, and Garrick decides to gift him one hundred wheelchairs. What is that if not a deliberate insult? A hundred of them! How long would that take to use? Is he trying to curse Haskell to a lifetime in a wheelchair?”

Zoltan’s expression was grim.

Chapter 253

Haskell was the grandson he valued most. Ever since learning that Larissa could potentially heal his legs in as little as three months, he had been immensely relieved. In his eyes, only Haskell was worthy of being the Palmer heir. The others didn’t even come

close.

For Garrick to curse Haskell to a lifetime in a wheelchair was to sabotage the future of the entire Palmer family.

And he believed in Larissa’s medical skills. The fact that she had cultivated the rare medicinal herb she’d given him at her welcome banquet was proof enough of her expertise. If she said she could heal Haskell’s legs, she could heal them.

Avril was now completely in awe of Larissa. She thought, “How on earth did she know what Garrick’s gift was?! I swear I didn’t tell her! This woman is a goddess! This is even more impressive than her piano performance!”
