The Impossible Condition Novel Chapter 369

Silent Dreams Never Die — Author: John Miller 369

Chapter 369 A Stubborn Defense of Pride

After Damian left, Vincent took a moment to properly assess the damage to Luke’s face.

It was bruised and swollen, with a few open cuts here and there.

Fortunately, none of it looked serious or life–threatening.

Vincent felt a surge of frustration, but he kept it in check. He placed a hand on Luke’s shoulder and said, “Whatever grievance you’re holding onto today, you’ll have to swallow it.”

In Rivergate, the influence held by Vincent and Damian was evenly matched, locking them in a stalemate where neither could gain absolute upper hand.

But compared to Damian, Vincent was far less reckless.

Damian was the type who would burn everything down for Scarlett.

Luke’s eyes were red–rimmed. It had never occurred to him that there could be a problem even Vincent couldn’t solve.

Just then, Vincent’s phone buzzed.

He pulled it from his pocket and saw Sabrina’s name on the screen.

“Vincent,” her voice came through, “dinner’s wrapping up. Where are you? I’ll come find you.”

After a brief pause, Vincent replied, “I’m in the restroom area.”

From beside him, Luke immediately started shaking his head, signaling frantically for Vincent not to let Sabrina come.

Luke had always put Sabrina on a pedestal.

If she weren’t with Vincent, he’d told himself more than once, he would have moved heaven. and earth to win her over.

Even though he knew he could never have her, his infatuation had only grown over time..

So the moment he heard Sabrina might come, panic set in.

If his goddess saw him like this–beaten, bloody, and humiliated–Luke felt he wouldn’t be able to face her again.

Vincent wasn’t fully aware of Luke’s feelings for Sabrina; he simply thought Luke was being overly vain. So he still said into the phone, “It’s fine, just wait for me in the lobby. I’ll be right

there.”

“Okay,” Sabrina replied before hanging up.

Vincent turned back to Luke. “Wash your face and come out with me.”

Luke refused instantly. “Just go back. Don’t worry about me. I can’t go out there looking like this. Sabrina would… She’d laugh at me.”

Vincent’s expression remained steady. “Sabrina isn’t like that.”

Luke dug in his heels. “I’ll leave after you guys are gone.”

Growing concerned, Vincent offered, “I’ll call Daniel to pick you up.”

“No,” Luke insisted, “I’ll get home on my own.”

Seeing he wouldn’t be moved, Vincent didn’t push further.

Still, he made a quiet promise. “I won’t forget what happened today. Your payback will come later.”

Luke gave a stiff, red–eyed nod.

Sensing his brother’s shame and anger, Vincent lowered his voice. “Naomi’s been located. I’ll text you the address. It’s up to you whether you go see her or not.”

With that, Vincent turned and walked out. Once in the hallway, he pulled out his phone and sent Luke the details.

Alone in the restroom, Luke stared at the address on his screen, uncertainty washing over him.

Should he go see Naomi, or not?

As dinner concluded, most of the guests had already filtered out of the restaurant.

Sabrina lingered in the lobby, waiting for Vincent.

Damian was also still there, seated in one of the lounge chairs. When Sabrina glanced around, her eyes landed on him.

He was sitting quietly, his sharp profile and straight nose outlined in the soft lobby light.

He was handsome, undeniably so–enough to make Sabrina’s pulse skip, despite everything.

He was looking down at his phone, but seemed to sense her gaze. Slowly, he looked up.

When his eyes met Sabrina’s, Damian’s lips curved into a mischievous, knowing smile.

Just then, Vincent appeared, walking toward them from the direction of the restrooms.

Sabrina’s attention snapped back to him.

Noticing her shift in focus, Damian’s smile turned provocative. He rose smoothly and began making his way toward her.

Sabrina saw him approaching, but instead of pleasure, a chill of fear ran through her.

Damian was closer, so he reached her first.

Seeing that Sabrina was deliberately avoiding his eyes, he deliberately raised his voice just enough to be heard clearly. “You’re all sweetness and charm online, Ms. Monroe. How come in person you’re acting like you don’t know me?”

He was doing this on purpose.

He simply didn’t want Vincent to have a moment’s peace.

Confronted with Damian’s pointed question, Sabrina took a small step back. She looked up at him but offered no defense.

It wasn’t that she didn’t want to explain–it was because Vincent was right behind her now, and she couldn’t risk saying the wrong thing.

One misstep could ruin everything.

Vincent saw from a few paces away that Damian appeared to be confronting Sabrina.

He quickened his stride, closing the distance rapidly, and moved to shield Sabrina behind him.

His expression was cold as he addressed Damian. “Watch your step, Mr. Langley.”

Sabrina shrank behind Vincent, not even daring to peek out.

Seeing her reaction, Damian couldn’t hold back a derisive smirk.
