The Heart Surgeon’s Last Patient Novel Chapter 324

Night Carved Paths Into Silence by Zyrel Ash ` 324

Chapter 324

The woman in the mirror’s eyes were still a little red, but the

confusion in them was quickly fading.

“Rebecca, what are you panicking for?”

She spoke to her reflection, almost silently, “Right now, at this

very moment, you’re the one in his house.

You’re the one who held his hand and came home with him.

And you’re the one who’s making him rush to explain, making

him panic.”

“He lied to you, but you lied to him before, too. You’re even.”

“That Rosalind, so what if she comes from a prominent family

and has known him since they were kids?

Isn’t she saying all that just because she can’t have him and

can’t stand it, so she has to come and stir up trouble?”

“Adrian chose you. He hid things from you, and maybe he had his worries and difficulties, but that’s no reason for you to doubt yourself or him first.”

Chapter 324

“You are his girlfriend now.”

That last sentence was like a final verdict, shattering the last bit

of gloom and self–pity in her heart.

Right, she was Adrian’s girlfriend now.

If there’s a problem, then face the problem and solve it.

Hiding away and feeling miserable, or just pushing Adrian to

that ridiculous woman?

That wasn’t her style.

She was bold enough to love, and bold enough to fight for it.

Once she figured that out, most of the cold, stagnant feeling in her chest instantly dissipated.

She even felt that her “sensible” exit just now, leaving them

space, was a bit of… a loss.

Why should she be the one to leave?

That’s her boyfriend, her territory.

Rebecca licked her slightly dry lips, her eyes shining again with

a sharp, determined light.

Chapter 324

She didn’t pull out her phone to call Adrian.

That would be too weak.

Besides, he was definitely confronting Rosalind right now, so it

wouldn’t be convenient to answer the phone..

She pushed the car door open and got out.

She slammed the door shut and locked the car.

Her movements were crisp, filled with a reignited fighting spirit.

She didn’t go back upstairs.

She turned and walked towards the 24–hour convenience store

at the entrance of the complex.

A few minutes later, Rebecca was carrying a clear plastic bag

with two bottles of mineral water and a pack of the cigarettes

Adrian occasionally smoked.

Adrian had never smoked in front of her; she had only seen

them when she was tidying up his room last time. He probably

needed them when he was stressed.

She even bought herself a strawberry–flavored lollipop,

unwrapped it, and stuck it in her mouth.

Chapter 324

She stood downstairs for who knows how long, the cold wind

making her a little chilly. She walked back into the elevator and

pressed the button for Adrian’s floor.

The elevator rose slowly.

She felt a little excited.

She was going to see for herself just what kind of private

matter this Rosalind had, that required her to come over to

someone’s house late at night to talk about.

The elevator dinged and the doors opened. Rebecca went to

open the door.

The confrontation she expected didn’t happen. The living room

was unnervingly quiet. The only thing there was the glass of

water she’d poured before she left, still sitting on the table, its

surface completely undisturbed.

Where were they?

Where were the two people who were just here?

Rebecca found it strange. She pulled out her phone and called

Adrian.

Chapter 324

A phone on the table started vibrating. Adrian hadn’t even taken

his phone.

She paced around the room as a thought popped into her head.

Did Adrian go out with Rosalind?

She dismissed the thought almost instantly.

No way. That wouldn’t be Adrian if he did something like that.

Rebecca turned around almost instantly, rushing out the door

again. She ran straight for the elevator and mashed the down

button.

The elevator was coming up from the ground floor, and every

second felt like an eternity.

She stared at the flickering numbers, the unexplainable feeling

in her gut growing stronger.

Finally, the elevator doors opened. She hurried inside and

pressed B1.

The underground garage.

Adrian had practically sprinted down.

Chapter 324

The elevator was too slow. He couldn’t wait. He had bolted

down the emergency stairwell.

His heart was pounding wildly in his chest, slamming against

his ribs and causing a dull ache, like he couldn’t get enough air.

The car was still here, but Rebecca wasn’t.

Did she leave?

What did she misunderstand?

His trial period… was he going to fail it?

The lights were dim, the air filled with the faint smell of gasoline

and dust.

As soon as Rebecca stepped out of the elevator, she looked up

and saw a familiar figure.

Adrian had his back to her, standing motionless in the spot
