The Heart Surgeon’s Last Patient Novel Chapter 272

Night Carved Paths Into Silence by Zyrel Ash ` 272

Chapter 272

As he spoke, he adjusted his glasses. The lenses reflected the

passing lights from outside the car, making him look completely

serious, but his words made Rebecca’s heart race. “So, will it?”

For a moment, she was too stunned to know how to answer.

Of course, Adrian didn’t give her a chance to answer, simply

leaning in to kiss her.

His lips and tongue tested hers, brushing gently, as if

confirming the warmth and softness of her mouth.

The slight numbness seemed to awaken at the gentle touch,

turning into a strange, fine current of electricity that shot

through her entire body.

Rebecca trembled involuntarily and reached out to grip Adrian’s

sleeve tightly.

Adrian seemed to notice her slight tremor. He paused for a

second, then deepened the kiss.

The air grew thick and warm, and the car was so quiet that the

only sound was their quickening breaths.

Chapter 272

Rebecca closed her eyes, her tense body slowly relaxing. Her

fingers, which had been clutching the seatbelt, loosened slightly

as she subconsciously and awkwardly tried to respond.

Her response was like a single spark, instantly igniting the

restraint Adrian had been holding back.

His hand on her shoulder tightened, pulling her closer to him as

the kiss gradually deepened, becoming wet, hot, and lingering.

Just as they were lost in the moment-

Bzzz… bzzz…

Adrian’s phone, sitting on the center console, began to vibrate

stubbornly, at the worst possible time.

The screen lit up. Adrian caught it in his peripheral vision, and his eyes darkened.

He stopped moving. Rebecca’s eyes were still hazy.

“Hmm?”

“I need to take a call.”

Adrian quickly grabbed his phone, opened the car door, and

stepped out.

Chapter 272

The intimate atmosphere in the car hadn’t faded, and Rebecca’s

cheeks felt a little hot.

She touched her lips, a smile uncontrollably forming. When she

turned her head to look out the window, she saw Adrian’s tense

jawline.

It looked like the call was urgent.

Did something happen at the lab?

Rebecca pouted, wondering if their date was about to end early.

Adrian answered the call but didn’t say much. A stern voice

came from the other end.

“Why did it take you so long to answer!”

“I was busy.”

“Busy for this long?

I checked. You weren’t at the lab at all.”

Adrian’s face showed a hint of impatience. “What is it?”

“Adrian!

Chapter 272

Is that how you talk to your old man?”

On the other end of the line was Adrian’s father.

He glanced at Rebecca in the car. She tilted her head to look at him, and when she saw him staring, she smiled and waved.

She was so cute, it eased Adrian’s frustrated mood quite a bit.

His tightly pressed lips relaxed a little. “What do you want?”

“You should be done fooling around out there. When are you

coming back to have a meal with your grandparents and your

mother?”

“Is it to have a meal with them, or with some minister’s or

director’s daughter?”

Adrian let out a soft laugh, his eyes holding a coldness that

wouldn’t dissipate.

The Shaw family had been in politics for generations, but that

ended with Adrian. He chose to go into scientific research.

Because of this, his relationship with his father had once

dropped to a freezing point.

When his father realized Adrian was stubborn and determined

Chapter 272

to stay in research, Meredith Shaw started scheming about a

political strategic marriage.

“Adrian, don’t be ungrateful!”

He said angrily, then his tone shifted, growing low.

“I heard from your grandfather that over a month ago, you had

him pull some strings for you regarding pharmaceutical

industry policy?”

Adrian narrowed his eyes and said nothing.

He was one to face the consequences of his actions, so he

never expected his grandfather to hide anything for him.

“The daughter of a businessman, and one involved with a

pharmaceutical company at that. You can fool around with her,

but don’t let it get serious. If word gets out, where will that leave

the Shaw family’s reputation?”

“You don’t need to worry about my affairs.”

Adrian’s composure remained steady, but his voice grew cold. “As for the Shaw family’s reputation… if you think I’ve disgraced the family, I’ll go and start the process of disowning the family

name tomorrow.”

Chapter 272

“You!”

Meredith was furious, and the sound of a fist hitting a table

came through the phone. “What kind of attitude is that, Adrian?

As long as I’m alive, don’t even think about doing whatever you

want!”

These threatening words didn’t faze Adrian in the slightest.

He listened quietly to the angry tirade on the other end, his fingertips tapping lightly on the car window. Inside, Rebecca

was looking down at her phone, grinning happily at something

interesting she saw.

“Are you done?”
