When Time Tried to Heal Me But I Refused to Listen by Kael Niro Senn 39

When Time Tried to Heal Me But I Refused to Listen by Kael Niro Senn 39 Summary

In this chapter, Adriana experiences a shift in how she is treated at a luxury store. Previously ignored, she is now approached with respect and attention as she looks at limited-edition bags and jewelry, though she feels conflicted about spending money on such extravagant items. Curtis, who is with her, respects her reluctance to buy anything unnecessary but still selects a few pieces that suit her well, showing his good taste.

After leaving the store, Curtis surprises Adriana by suggesting they go to Brightwell Street, a place known for its street food near Haldoria University. Adriana is surprised by the choice, as she didn’t expect someone like Curtis to enjoy simple street food. However, Curtis expresses interest in trying the hot dogs from a place Adriana used to work at, which excites her and shows a different, more approachable side of him.

When they arrive, the flashy luxury car draws attention from students, including some of Adriana’s classmates who gossip about her, accusing her of being supported by a wealthy man. Curtis overhears this and, in a calm but confident manner, introduces himself as Adriana’s legal husband, which silences the classmates and leaves Adriana feeling both nervous and proud. This moment highlights the complex emotions Adriana faces—between fear of heartbreak and the unexpected support from Curtis.

Feeling a bit mixed inside, she glanced up at the limited–edition bags displayed on the wall–the ones that supposedly required spending three million just to be eligible to buy,

Last time she came here, the staff didn’t even look at her.

This time, one of them was literally crouching in front of her, introducing the items.

“Ma’am, you look familiar. Have you been here before?” The sales associate smiled.

Adriana stayed quiet.

“This one’s really nice, take a look.” The sales associate quickly changed the subject. Adriana turned to Curtis. “Maybe we shouldn’t buy anything. I don’t really need any of this.” With her usual lifestyle and spending habits, she believed all these things were unnecessary. A bag worth hundreds of thousands, even millions, meant nothing to her right now.

“Okay, then let’s go somewhere else.” Curtis respected her choice and didn’t push it. Still, he casually picked out a few bags and pieces of jewelry he thought suited her, telling Kenneth to handle the purchase

Adriana didn’t argue–Curtis did have good taste. Everything he chose fit her perfectly.

The sales associate escorted Adriana out with exaggerated courtesy, their attitude shifting more dramatically than a rollercoaster.

Adriana followed Curtis absentmindedly, not sure which fancy store he was taking her to next. “Let’s go to Brightwell Street,” Curtis said casually once they got in the car.

Adriana stared at him in surprise. “Brightwell Street? That’s the street full of food stalls near Haldoria University, isn’t it?”

“I just bought you a wedding gift,” Curtis said with a raised brow. “Shouldn’t you get me something in

return?”

Only then did Adriana realize she should get him a gift too. “Oh! Okay … But, what should I get you?” Curtis probably had everything already, right?

“Is there anything good to eat on that street?” Curtis asked.

But as soon as she said that, her excitement faded a little. Someone like Curtis would never eat street food, right?

“I like hot dogs,” Curtis said with a nod. “Let’s try it.”

Adriana couldn’t hide her excitement. Her boss was surprisingly easygoing.

Guess you really can’t judge people by their looks, or by what others say.

She used to think all people in high positions were as unapproachable as Matthew.

But Curtis was actually willing to go eat street food with her.

The car stopped right in front of the entrance to the street food area, and many students turned to look.

After all, it was a multi–million luxury car with a custom plate to match its flashy style–something rare even in Haldoria.

Seeing people gathering around, Adriana hesitated to get out. She whispered to Curtis, “Next time we come to a place like this, we should just take the subway or a cab. Otherwise, the vendors might overcharge us.”

Curtis chuckled at how serious she looked. “Okay, we’ll take the subway next time.”

Adriana’s chest tightened a little.

He said next time?

Did that mean he would often come with her?

Her ears turned red, and she forced herself to open the car door.

Her heart was racing, but along with it came a wave of fear.

If she fell for Curtis–knowing he already had someone in his heart, knowing their marriage was just a contract–it would only end in heartbreak.

“Isn’t that Adriana?”

“No way! She did get herself a sugar daddy!”

In the crowd were some of Adriana’s classmates.

They started gossiping again, saying Adriana was being kept by someone.

Back when Matthew had picked her up a couple of times in his fancy cat people had already posted about it on the forum, accusing her of being kept by a rich man.

Adriana never dared to explain–she didn’t want to cause trouble lo

Curtis clearly heard what they said.

He took Adriana’s hand and, right in front of them, asked calmly, “Are those your classmates?”

Those classmates instantly fell silent, nervously glancing at each other. “H–Hello… we’re Adriana’s classmates.”

Adriana’s heart was pounding. Curtis’s presence was just too intimidating.

“Hello, I’m Adriana’s husband. Legally,” Curtis said with a smile.

For a second, it almost felt like he was showing off.

He was handsome to begin with, no less striking than a runway model.

Just standing there, saying he was her husband … Adriana could already picture herself trending on the campus forum tomorrow.
